77 Blazer - The Beast build

Picked this 77 Blazer from NY today (I am in Philly) Factory 400ci smb. CURRENT STATUS 468 BB with 700R4 & cast iron cased NP205 Front is a Dana 60 and Rear is 14 Bolt Seems to be 4.88 geared 20" Weld Racing rims & 39.5 4" Suspension & 2" Body lift
I like to cut an X in the rivet head first then knock it off with an air chisel then switch to the round punch bit and air hammer the rest of the rivet out.
I used to cut an “x” until I used @Desert_K5 long barrel ingersol rand. Not needed. Blows whole rivet heads off like butter.

I think I have that one at work. No rivet removal there though. Maybe I'll take it home and try it next time.
I do have access to this guy too! Need some bits and a retainer for it though. Hmmm...

Frame Work is on pause. My almost new Eastwood Scroll Compressor shit the bed. The Pressure Relief Valve died and it won't shut off. Eastwood manned up and is sending me a new PRV and Pressure Safety Valve under warranty.

That needler deal works great for removing rust. I bought one too a few years ago. We broke ours but it was a cheap one.

It is an Astro tool. I've found that Astro air tools are very decent. They make the Big Nasty Air Hammer also and that thing can break welds loose.

Parts fairy paid me another visit. Decided on dual Eaton TruTrac Posi carriers for both the Dana 60 and 14Bolt. These things are Beasts! No way I can carry both of them.

Also got my master bearing set for the Dana 60. I have 85% of the new parts to build a Blazer... Few more to go.

If you aren't doing hard rock crawling, I believe that you will like those. I have one behind the fat block in my '70 K10 and like it a lot. Even in snow it does well. My son put one in his mildly tuned Dmax and wished that he had done it sooner.

Haven't got the ring gears yet. I can get 4.11 gears for $255 but the 4.10 gears are $400.

The Eaton is for 4.10 and numerically LOWER...Will the 4. 11's fit or do I need to find 4.10's

Major confusion

They're the same ratio

The parts fairy at ORD came thru with more new parts!! Dana 60 and 14bolt Bearings and Seals for the hubs and spindles, king pin parts and various bolts and nuts. Gonna be some serious rebuilding soon!

Cracked the Dana 60 and drained the fluid. Million dollar idea...Yankee Candle scented 90 weight. Huh, huh... Anyone? Planning to remove the Dana this week and get it up on a stand.

Those gears look decent. You should be able to make some money back selling them.
Was thinking same thing. I'm gonna take the carrier out before I strip the paint off the body. I'll put the ring and pinion up for sale and the carrier separately. It is also 4.88 gears.

Sunday Funday.

Got the Dana 60 off the frame and into the garage. Wasn't as bad as I thought I'd be. Got the new Transmission onto a stand (helped me make room in the garage by taking it outta the box). Going to start D60 teardown and cleaning. Hope to have 14bolt out in next two weeks...
