77 K5 Just had to do it

It's funny; if it was my truck the color matching would drive me nuts. On someone else's rig I think it's a cool touch of character.

I rechecked my average after filling up once we got home. It went up a tenth from what I originally reported. 11.45 mpg for the entire trip. Pretty silly measuring mileage in tenths though. I haven't heard what Ron's trip mileage was.

We did talk a little about how they did compared to each other. On highway hill climbs the L29 was the champ while I was buzzing the little 5.3 to the moon and back. On off road hill climbs mine was a little more stable. Ron did mention to me he missed the sway bar up front on the highway as I was taking some corners at a bit higher rate than he felt comfortable with. But a little of that is I'm going on my second year driving this combo with the camper and I've got a better feel for the road. His feel will come with seat time for sure.

So did you and @ZooMad75 compare notes on hill climbs, fuel mileage and such about your travels to Moab?

I have never been into the statistics much when it comes to mileage but was keeping track until I forgot a receipt for gas in Moab. All in all however I did use a lot less fuel then I thought I would and if I had to guess I would say 10ish mpg as an average. This package pulls really good thru all the gears and Vail pass in 4th gear made me pretty happy.

It did seem like not having a sway bar affected road manners at first but by the time we made our way home I was used to how it behaved and the lack of a sway bar turned out to not be a huge deal.

I am overall happy with the truck but I am thinking a rear spring package minus one of my overloads and a couple of regular leafs instead should help give me some more flex and cut down on the tricycle moments.
As Rob said, more seat time both on the trail and highways should bring more skill/confidence on my part.

So let me see if I got this straight.... The crew cab guy (whose name isn’t MrCCguy) thinks I should drop my CC avatar for a Blazer??
Updated that quote for ya a bit
Otherwise, good call...

Yeah, the Crawlabago is going to be the rig you are associated most with here. I actually pondered changing my screen name to MrCrewCab, but I just couldn't do it.

Thanks, after looking at your build that is a hell of a compliment. I have a line on a FWC camper for a Blazer but the guy wants 2 grand for it.
Man if I had the money I would scoop that up. I still have a lot to do before blazer bash lol
