I got another 208 from my Brother in law, it is in a 86 1/2 ton diesel with a 700 auto...my 465 has a 32 spline output.

I sure hope the one out of the 86 does too!???

Can anyone confirm if it will have the same spline count?

Martin!!!??? Are all 208s the same? :dunno:
 
I think all 700's were 27spline, can the 208 input be exchanged for the 32spline unit?
Is the bolt pattern the same on the adapter?
 
Inputs can be changed, and should be the same generic 6 hole pattern to the adaptor. As long as the 32 spline input from the fragged case isn't damaged you should be OK.
 
That's What I have been reading guys.

I think the 32 spine shaft I got is good...is that hard to swap?

When I took my old one apart needle bearings were falling all over the place!
 
shouldn't be too bad Dean, if you've got a big pair of snap ring pliers! Those needle bearings you can just pack in with grease or vaseline and they will stay put while assembling the shafts.
Just watch what needle bearings come out of where, and lay out the parts in order of disassembly when you take it apart.
I'm sure there is a blowup of the parts diagram somewhere too.
 
Get a couple of those adaptor from the trans to the t case for spares they seem to break. I think there is a long one and a short one pretty sure the long one is the one that breaks
 
Use Automatic Transmission Assembly lube to hold the roller bearings in place.

Looks like I got the long style one Eric. So that's whatever...maybe a extra cross member for support on the tcase would help. :dunno:

Still need to get the transfercase out of the 86, that is sitting with three flat tires in the thistles out back in the row of death. Now it`s raining and we got to go look at some cows Katelyn wants to buy for wants to buy for 4H.
And they are only three hours drive away from here. :doah:

Looks like I wont be getting the case today!
The chances of me getting the Ratbag to be running before party are looking slim.

We did put his to work today as a service truck! :D
After we got back from cow inspecting me and Colby ripped the 208 out of the 86 before it started to rain again.

Went for another drive today...this time to Edmonton.
Had a good visit with Rene Deb and the girls!

Picked up a much needed cutch and pressure plate from Rene.

Awesome, glad to help and glad Colby liked the game. Too bad it wasn't a bit more portable, I'd bring it with me to the party.

But the clutch fork has a tab that is broke off that holds the throw-out bearing in place not sure if that matters much but I don`t want to put it together and have a problem.

Made a thread about it in the garage.


 
Looking good Dean! I'd replace the fork. Mine was missing one of the tabs too, got a new one from Napa for like $20.

Yes you do!! :haha:

Cleaned up good! :thumb: That transfer case is going to have to come a part from the back to the front...no short cuts there. I haven't done that yet.

I wanted to put the engine and trans in the truck but the clutch throw out bearing fork has one broken tang on it, and I would like to find a replacement for that. Unless it doesn't matter. :dunno:

My buddy down the road has a cast version from 1967 I was wondering if that one would work?

I will take a pic and show you guys what I`m worried about.
 
The tab on the left is what I`m looking at, problem or not?

I agree with Sean but I`m running out of time and 20 bucks in the states is 60 bucks here! :haha:
