what a great accomplishment by the CK5'ers....balls to the wall thrash on Saturday to get it running, and we had Dean running all over with what he was working on and also supplying the rest of us with what we needed to accomplish what we were working on....It was another great CK5 build and greet get together!
The Rat is running great
Been playing with choke setup
Had to replace the choke pulloff
Vacuum wasnt able to move the plunger
Also had no power to the choke so we ran a line to the heater motor
Now the coil opens up in about 3 minutes and comes off high idle down to 750
Think we got it setup good for cold weather now as well as warm

Played with the timing anymore Dave? My gut says it could take a few more degrees advance...which would wake it up a little more.

we did get the vac unit from the old carb, and we have ABOUT 34 total right now, I don't feel comfortable giving it any more than that using pump gas. It could probably benefit from more in depth tuning of the advance curve and limit the mechanical advance, therefore allowing more initial advance though. I know your right thinking there is more power to be found by more initial timing though. I spent a while just trying to get the choke issues figured out today...hopefully they are good and Dean can just drive it now!

well without a degreed balancer I'm not taking a chance a blowing someones engine up to gain another 10hp...Its safe where it is.
