77 The Black Truck "Ratbag"

@tRustyK5

Rene remember the 350 out of Gangrene!?

Took it apart today it’s suppose to be a 4 bolt block haven’t taken the pan off yet, it’s is a 01 block so probably is. The heads are 462624 crap.

This thing was seized when I got it but I got it to roll over. Not sure how more water go in it. Been inside always. Anyway she seized up again and not looking good for its future!

Sure, why not? If it's unseized maybe I can strip it down to bare block and work from there...might be fun in the '57?

There is some pitting on one of the cylinders so it will need to be bored out…and stroked. :whistle:

Up to you? If you want it its yours.

Nothing wrong with that block that boring won’t fix unless it has already been bored.

L82 Corvettes used 624’s with 2.02” valves.

Small valves. One push rod bent.
Antifreeze in the oil when I drained it years ago. Block or heads may be cracked.
Hopefully the block is ok but I’d get it Magna fluxed before I spent any money on it.

Not sure of the going rate, but decades ago, when I bought an L72, I had it all machined, and Shortblock assembled, I finished assembly and put it in the Vette, only to find out the block was cracked…nobody ever mentioned pressure checking it. I was stunned.

I remember you telling about that episode. What a kick in the nuts!

I'd probably strip it bare and take it to the "Block shop" here in town...tank it, check for cracks etc, new cam bearings, see if it cleans up at .030" over. Go from there.

That’s a good plan.

I’ll take the pan off when I get a chance and take a picture.

Want anything else other than the short block. The flywheel is junk Btw
