What are you running for shocks?
invisible ones right now  I still have to mount f-250 shock towers in the front, make some lower shock mount brackets and make brackets for the rear shocks. Im not sure which ones I will go with. Probably the cheapest ones I can get, because I dont do any high speed stuff.

I work next door to a 4x4 shop so when the time comes I'm just going to see which ones he can get a good deal for me

I'm basically in the same boat. I do have rear mounts but I'm wanting to redo it so I can fit longer shocks. The front just needs help all the way around. This is one of the things getting worked out when I get it to a fab. shop. There is just some much more needed on this thing. It's a never ending story.

New addition installed. ORD's competition motor mounts.

Putting the mounts on was easy. getting the motor in the right position to get it bolted down was kind of a .....! Very happy with it, the motor is alittle more solid. When I get my new doubler crossmember made it should be a good match.

Well I have an appointment for the fab shop finally. They are picking it up on wends. the 20th. :hack: :weld: :grind:

They are cutting off the front frame ears and putting .250 thick box tubing in place for a stronger point for the front tube winch bumper w/ skid plate, and making a rear bumper with tire mount and hi jack mount also reinforcing and boxing in the rear portion of the frame, and also building a doubler cross member/skid plate out dom tubes with also boxing in the frame rail in this area, and building a new floor tunnel to cover the doubler, and making a mount for my new seats.

I have on order a warn winch 9.5 ti, and jegs gs-1 high back sport seats, poly performance 9/16 bolt center 3x2 inch poly bushings for the mounts, and a spare m/t classic2 16.5x9.75 rim with a Irok 39.5 tire.

I also have working door locks and my rear window also works. For all of that don't understand where this is coming from I bought the frame and body from an impound/junkyard. the rear window crank sys. was all together missing and I had no door keys. so now it locks, sense it's finally looking like something more then a pile of junk.

I'll post up pics as I get the parts and when work is getting done on it at the shop.:D

I received my winch today. It's a warn 9.5 ti :D

And my jeg's high back seat. They are very comfortable and very well made for the money I spent. I can't wait to get them in the k5.

Now I have to figure out a good Strong way of mounting the seats. Any suggestions out there? I was thinking of making a small cage for them to mount on out of dom steel and have it welded to the frame for more frame strength.

You are going to have a cage aren't you? What I've seen and looked good was tubes run along the floor between the foot well and center crossbar.

Then it's just a case of spanning the floor tubes. Strengthens the cage and you mount your seats on it.:D Somebody's gotta have a pic.

yeah i'll be getting a roll cage when I get back to indiana. Right now i'm just trying to get everything on the k5 and make it safe for the move out there.

What did those seats set you back? It appears they have a recline function, correct? If so do they both fold forward as well to allow rear seat access?

I picked them up from jegs for 179.00 on sale. They recline all the way back flat with left/right side adjusters, and they have a left/right side tilt forward levers for rear seat access, and they also have very smooth slider rails for seat location via under seat lever. Also the center back panel gives you access to add more foam for lumbar support, and the seat also allows the heated pads to be installed for those of you in cold country.

Today is a sad, but happy day. The 77 k5 left for the fab. shop. Unkl Al's custom's is doing the work here in bullhead city,az.

Here is a couple of pics on the trailer when they came and picked it up. With me being excited and sad. Now what am I going to do with my time? I have gotten use to working on the k5, then going to work , getting a few hours of sleep, and starting all over again.

I'll try to stop by there to keep you guys updated on how it's going with pics.:D

Thanks for the info, what brand/style are they? Those would be really nice in my 80 as the seats in it are worn out, and the back angle is fixed and not really comfortable for long drives.

what are they gonna do to it at the fab shop?

I'm getting a new crossmember w/ near flat belly skid plate for my doubler setup, they are going to box in the center portion and rear portion of my frame rails, They are also making front winch bumper w/ a class 3 hitch and skid plate and boxing in the front ears of my frame, and a rear bumper w/ spare tire mount sort off like blazen offroad's w/ high lift mount and class 4 hitch.

I was told all of this should be done by friday of next week. Then we talk about the floor pan work and wheel wells.

It's gonna be sweet, can't wait to see all the work done. Thanks for that information, it is a big help, and the wife actually said I could get a set.
