Thanks man, I told him what I wanted and he's doing a great job. I figured I spent to much time extending my wheel base for a reason, I should do what I can to save it (departure angle).

Ummm, that would be approach angle on the front, wouldn't it?:haha:

This tells me I need togo to bed after I come back from a bachelor party/strip club, instead of posting.:haha:

I went to the fab. shop today to drop off the bushings.
Guess what I saw, a spot welded front bumper.:D Man this thing looks great. The skid plate and hitch was added on, along with the upper support mounting bracket, light mounts, and anchor shackle mounts. Yes I have pics!!

First here is the upper support bracket. With all the support on this thing, it shouldn't have any problems holding up.

And here is the overall pics of the front bumper. The only thing left is the winch plating and fairlead plating.

I have a question for everyone though. I was asked about what to do with the fairlead plate. The winch came with a roller fairlead and steel cable. In the future I will be adding synthetic rope (3/8 x-line) and a billet fairlead. my question is the hole size for the fairleads. Are they the same size or is there something I need to do. I know they both have 10 inch center bolt holes so this is fine, but what about the hole the rope/cable goes through?

wow! I really like how that bumper turned out :cool1: As for your fairlead question, sorry I have no idea :(

Not sure on the size of the hole for the fairlead. My dad's 04 dog has a 16.5ti and the opening is about half an inch larger than the gap on the fairlead. But if you are going to eliminate the roller for the billet, you may want that gap a little smaller. That bumper look good.

Thanks guys, This fairlead thing does have me though. If I make the hole to small the cable will rub, to big and I'll have to weld in some metal or something to take up any gaps when the billet one goes on. If I had the 400.00 to convert to synthetic I would just do it now. I guess we'll see what happens when I get to that point.

I got the shocks from summit today. Man are they heavy! I measured them out and I have exactly 15 inches of travel before I hit the internal 1/2 inch bump stop. I guess they put it in there for further insurance against breakage from over extending.;)

What about seeing how big the billet one is on the outside of the failead, and making the hole a 1/4" or so smaller? Then the roller should have plenty of clearance, and when the billet one is placed there, it will cover the original hole. The other possibility is make the fairlead mount removable, then you could just replace that mount when it came time to switch to the synthetic cable. Just a couple of ideas.

Finally found my answer!:D

After calling about 4 offroad shops with no answer to my question. I finally found it on the fifth try, from blazen offroad. The answer is "survey says" 2x8 inches. This is more then enough for a roller and way more for an x-line fairlead, but still covering up the hole when I decide to convert to x-line. after calling up some of these companies for an answer of there products I found they don't know about there products. Most do the drop ship thing, no worries about that, but some of them never see or read about there products. Well I can say it was nice to call blazen offroad and not get talked to like I was the crazy one for asking. then there was some telling me they don't have an Idea about any specs of there products.

Thank you Blazen offroad you definitely made a sale in the near future on your x-line products.

Just curious , did you call 4WheelParts.com ?

They are more of a parts store that does minor installs. I have tried them in the past with some other install questions with no help. When it came to what part to use kind of questions they were a good help with decent prices. I was thinking a true offroad only shop that does custom installs and makes there own parts would be more qualified to answer. You know somebody that is out there using the products and installing them.
I really don't want to name any names of companies I called, because I really don't like the name drop thing. Especially when they are good companies, they just didn't know the answer for what ever reason. It takes something really off the wall to get me to name drop.

What are they charging you for that bumper? That's nice.

Unkl al's is charging approx. $525.00, give or take for the front bumper. I got a estimate with labor broken down per part and total parts listed so it's kind of hard to figure each item out. The total is what I wanted.;)

Today they had the fairlead plate installed. They will be adding some more support behind the fairlead mounting bolts and a plate on the winch mount. They also had the bumper pulled off so they can welded it all up today. The lift was also finally freed up so now comes the doubler transfer case mount:D .

Here is some more pics:

It's about time for an update.

The fab shop has finished my doubler crossmember finally. I still need to get a skid plate for it, but it will have to wait for now. I'll be moving to Indiana in about 9 days so time is short.

Here is a pic of the front view. It's nice and tight in there! It has 4 points of attachment to the frame using the 2x3x9/16 bushings. the frame mounts are very sturdy and welded to the frame using 2 sides of the frame.

And of course the clearance shots. Here it is at 85 degrees of rear flange angle.

Filo is getting real busy on this thing to get it out by time I move, and doing a great job in my opinion. UNKL AL's has given me an estimate for a complete exhaust sys. So we'll see I still have the rear bumper which Filo has started on today and hopefully there is time for seat mounts, minor floorboard work, and shock mounts.:doah: time is short, but we will see. I'm trying to keep my visits short to let Filo work. I guess I've been slowing him down alittle. UNKL AL is being very nice, and understanding about me coming over to take the picks for you guys. I'm very happy with there work and shop so far.

Thanks man, It's finally looking like a blazer again instead of a parts truck.lol

The doubler crossmember looks real nice. I bet you will be glad to get to indiana and out of that heat wave! The high temp here today is gonna be 87
