78 Blazer Buildup by Shaffers Offroad

Very nice build. The fab work looks to be top notch.

There are two guys in the 09 TTC running the aluminum links on buggies. These buggies look rather heavy too, running rockwells and huge tires.

this is nothing wrong with alu. links. race cars they go in excess of 100 mph, take blow that destroy the cars and they still survive.we have gone through 4 race cars and about 30 wrecks, never had a failure and they are much, much smaller than his

Probably an honest mistake.

It gets hard to remember where your interferences are when you build off a bare shell sometimes. I'm sure that what they were trying to do was get a tube to land directly at the bend apex of the a-pillar on the opposite side, since that would be the strongest way to support that bend and strengthen it.

:usaflag:

Where they planning to put the front stringers where I have it circled?

Yes

^ I think this is what happened. They did a nice patch though!

Looking better with every update! What are the plans for the stubouts above the motor?

To keep the cage fully connected they will meet up with the rest of the font cage. They meet the inside tube at the down bars.

I don't remembre if it was asked, but why are you still running a mechanical linkage for the steering?

I could drive by there on my way home and sabotage it for your if you'd like? :)

I'm just gonna ask what everyone else is thinking: How much do you expect this to cost you for Shaffers to build this beast?

More than the truck was worth.. :doah:

When it's done if you're still interested PM me and I'll give you a closer #.

I do you one better than that, meet you in Bronco Canyon Jan.1?

Assuming the truck is done by then (hopefully it will be!) we can do that. Probably not Jan 1 though, I'm usually under the weather that day :D

That's why we go that day, no one else is out, the cops are also sleeping, we drink a little during the ride but we have the whole trail to ourselves and shooting - forgetaboutit, couldn't hit anyone if we wanted to. Wait that didn't come out right.:haha:

I especially like the good use of a wide angle lens for the pics, what is that like a 15mm? Almost a fisheye lens!!!!!
