Pretty sure hydro assist takes the stress back off the box though since it's mounted to the tie rod most of the time. If you're planning to make the upgrade at some point anyway.

That was part of my motivation for doing the assist. That and being able to turn when you want.

Got the truck drivable last night, but I wouldn't say it's done. Need to bleed the brakes again, and work on the steering. Other than that, it rides real smooth with no death wobble, just has a slight pull to the right.

I think it sits a little bit higher in the front.

They don't stick out quite as much as I thought they would.

Man that thing is looking more awesome every time you post. So what's next - hydro assist?
Thanks, I appreciate the comments!

Yes, more than likely. I know it isn't going to steer worth a crap with the hubs locked in. Im going to try what John said first with the dual belts on the P/S pump and see how it does.

I don't know if it will make that much of a difference. On the road it may help I suppose. You may want to go ahead and rig up some hydro before you do any heavy off roading so you won't break your steering box or frame or anything. Listen at me talking. I'm still rocking the old push pull steering, even after having sheared the bolts off the steering arm and been left with no steering. :doah:

Did they give you any grief when you went to exchange that jury-rigged caliper? I forgot to ask last night. Also forgot to get those bushings back..

Not sure. Someone called me this afternoon and offered it to me. I figured I have enough, I could pass on one every once in a while. I'll let you know more when I know more. I also have some one who is fairly persistant about me buying their running late 70's K20 with a 396/TH400/NP203 combo. I would have already bought it if it weren't for the ****ty tranny and transfer case.

I think it looks good. :waytogo: My theory is a level truck looks a little short in the rear because there is more sheet metal above the rear fender opening.

Thanks, I like how it sits too and I agree with your theory.

Kind of want to light this thing on fire. It has developed a death wobble when braking now randomly after vacuum bleeding the brakes, but I think its from warped rotors. One side squeeks like a mofo. I had the steering fixed for about an hour and then it started acting up again. Trans/clutch feel messed up now for some reason. Leaking p/s fluid somewhere.

Mine does the same.
Its developed a wicked shimmy at times especially when i let off the gas to decelerate
And it has a slow ps leak out of the steering box.

Truck looks slick!
