I don't understand the engine thing. They never came orange did they?

I like black. As soon as you hit the dirt, you cant even tell its dirty. Orange motors look nice until you go wheeling :dunno:

Excited to see this all done chris. Gonna be awesome with tbi. Im hoping to be there soon as well.

Really flat bill? REALLY!

if its primed after its hot tanked, then painted with several coats of GOOD paint and heated up it will stick and look good. Most people dont read the instructions on that engine paint and it doesnt stick worth anything. IIRC the block has to be preheated and postheated for the paint to stick perfectly. I heated mine with a propane torpedo heater and mine looks good 7 years later with no fenderwells. Its all in how you do it

Cause the Camera is a new invention so you have never seen a picture of a dz 302 or a LS-6. You think it is called Chevy orange because Chevy Chase likes it? All the company's had special engine colors. drink less read more.

I was talking trucks. Not cars. Didn't know they ever came painted orange in the trucks.

Hijack off

The engine will most likely be painted orange because I like the 'old school' look, if not orange, than black. Im not going to take a whole lotta time in painting the engine. I just need to get it in the K10 and running.

Stripped the paint off the intake. Not as pretty as I would've liked, but it was time consuming and its good enough for me.

If you know anyone with a glass bead cabinet, that is the best way to clean them (just make sure you clean all the glass out...). That looks pretty good anyway.

So you're talking about painting that intake too? Why? Are were you just talking about painting the block?

I need to order a water pump, but im not sure which one I need cause I don't know what year of truck my serp belt setup came off of. Anyone know how to go about this?

Yes, they are all reverse. Order one for a 1989-1991. Or just order one for a 1990 IROC. Anything that you know came factory with a serpentine setup.

What about this?

The water pump needs to match because it has mounting features on it for other brackets to bolt to. There are at least 3 different pulley hole patterns for SBC water pumps, too, apparently to prevent mismatch in rotation and height.

another vote for painted block (not that it was really up for debate) but a good contrasting color (say orange for example) makes it much easier to track down leaks, as opposed to a block that's black and covered in dirt.
