This is sweet I really like the idea of new drive train in old body. I really wanna do this to my 83 k5, but anyways this truck is gonna be sick can't wait to see more pics

Thanks!

This build is F-in sweet. That's quite the HD setup.

I don´t think she´ll brake that easy now! ;)

Dayum!!!

Badarse!!!

Thanks!

This build is awesome!

I'm guess from the pics that you used projectors with the HIDs? If so, any pics of the retrofit? I'd like to put some projectors on my truck one of these days.

That front 60 is pretty sweet, too. I imagine it wasn't cheap, though.

Thanks! Front axle wasn´t cheap, that is true, but there is a reason I went with this axle instead of rebuilding a GM D60. The high pinion has something to do with that.. more on this later in the build.. you´ll ahve to wait and see! ;)

As for the HID, NO RETROFIT!! These are factory HID units from Hella. They come factory assembled like that. (The Rolls royce Phantom uses the same lights). this is a totally legal, factory HID light, so no retrofit in an existing housing. The "cup" around the 90mm projector lense is a stainless steel bowl I modified to close the gap between the headlight bezel and the projector.

Awesome Dude!
Not much I don't like about anything you've done...actually I like everything you've done!! :waytogo:

Thanks! Still way more to come! :)

Dream drivetrain going on here!
I'll be keeping an eye on this build...

I got a bunch of family close to you in the Dexter, Old town, and Millinocket areas, as well up by Shin Pond. love it up there!

Thanks! I wanted to do something unique and I guess it is, at least for now.

It is really nice up there, no doubt! Maybe they´ve seen the truck before or heard of it. Not many people in the area that don´t know about it. ;)

Outstanding build.

Thanks!

So here is the winch bumper while mocking it up on the truck:

After powder coating (satin black) and with the BD LED lights, warn VR10000-s winch

you have your exhaust coming out infront of your tires? im wanting to do that what kinda mufflers do you have on it? how does it sound? and that bumper is freakin sick did you build it yourself or ?

Fun stuff! You certainly have some time and money tied up in that truck! I count over 20k right off the top!

You don't actually off road this thing, do you?

Martin

Actually I do, but I try to not bump into anything. Haven´t gone really crazy with it though. I´m sure I won´t before I build the rock sliders and some more skid plating. With the new tank in it, I haven´t had it off road because I didn´t want to hit the tank and bust it. But once the skid plate and rock sliders are on, she´ll get wheeled again. That is the puropse of the ARBs and some other "still secret" mods I have planned! ;)

Yes I have, but this is already the old exaust, have a new one on now. The one in these pictures is stock Cadillac manifolds, the stock head pipe from the Escalade with the OEM cats, BUT the Y has been changed to come out the drivers side into a 3" stainless pipe with a stainless magnaflow muffler and some corsa dual 4" slant cut tips.

Now I cut everything off behind the cats and built my own all stainless 2.5" true dual exhaust. It exits in front of the rear tires on both sides now. I almost think it sounded better with the two into one, but the magnaflow 2.5" mufflers are brand new, so they need to burn out a bit anyways.

For a sound clip, scroll up in this thread, I posted two videos with the sound of the old exhaust...

That bumper is a heavily modified GMTC front bumper. It has different pull points than their original design and all the light holes, light tabs, etc were custom made by myself. I gound the top welds smooth too before powder coat to make it look a little nicer. I like the look cause it is almost the same as the classic warn bumpers, only about 4 times as strong!

Time, I´d say way over 2000 hours so far and money... all I can say is nice try with the 20K! ;) Sad part, it´s still only about 60-70% done from what I want! ;)

here is a sound clip of the new true dual exhaust... kind of a crappy video and the mufflers have been about a day old. So I hope it´ll get to a little deeper tone, but we´ll see. It still needs some turn down tips as well.

sounds pretty good to me, and turn downs always help thats what i usually do nice and rumbly going down the street. and you did a damn good job on that bumper i dont see to many styles of bumpers like that that i like but that one looks sick. this has me all fired up to start my build!

Very cool build :waytogo:

Thanks!

Thank you. Glad everyone likes what I´ve done so far and that it helps you guys move on with your projects!

Awesome truck! I can't wait to see some wheeling pics :thumb:

Awesome truck! Congrats on great work.

Thank you!

Awesome truck! I can't wait to see some wheeling pics :thumb:

Thanks! Well, the wheeling pics will have to wait til the end of May or beginning of June. The truck still needs a tank skid plate before any wheeling and I´m currently overseas for work and won´t be back in the states before May. So be patient, but the pics and videos will follow!

So did you ever figure anything out with your bead locks?

Martin

Hi Martin, well, the design and CAD is all done on them. So basically the wheel has been all laid out. BUT nobody wants to spend that much cash on wheels and without getting the 25 min quantity, Hutchinson won´t build them. So I gave up on the idea, even though I really like the final design. I have something else planned for wheels now, more of a OEM stock look but with alloy wheels... you´ll ahve to wait for this mod til I get it done though. Should look pretty cool though.

Thanks for checking back on that! :waytogo:

And the class V hitch that will be going on soon, together with a skid plate to protect the new rear mounted aluminum tank...

Sweet grille you gonna leave it grey? Or paint it black ? Either way gonna look good on the beast

My original grille is silver, but I always liked the dark grey ones. (it looks light compared to reality in the picture). It is too nice to paint it, besides, I like the grey myself...

I like black grills, mine is, but it would be a sin IMO to paint an nos grill....

x2, hard to get a NOS grill preiod, so I would never paint that, if I wanted to get a black grill, I would have just painted my original one.

Thanks for the compliments!
