Are you going to have any protection for all those lights? Those big circles look like they are just waiting to get ripped off
I'm not sure what your end goal is. I know you said you want to wheel the truck, but New England trails are very tight and full of tree branches. Whenever I play around in the woods on log roads or unmaintained roads I am hitting branches with my brush guard.
I would go small and tucked away. Those LEDs looked fairly protected. Why not get some additional spot LEDs to compliment the floods, or pick up a couple small mixed bars.
The mag hytech diff cover would also make me nervous off road. I read you have clearance issues with your tank. Maybe you could pick up some rock protection in a cover that isn't so bulky?
Well, this is another dilemma, for the looks, I don´t want to add any brush guard, to keep the look kind of classic. But for protection of the lights, you are right, something like the ARB bumpers have would be better.
The plan at the end is a do it all truck. I know that is a compromize, but I can´t have 5 trucks for everything I want to do.
It should be street legal, offroad fun toy for slower stuff and for the high speed stuf as well. On top it needs to pull a trailer and haul some stuff from time to time and I might even put a slide in camper in it from time to time.
The truck is kind of huge anyways so I won´t take it into very tight trails as it simply wouldn´t fit, but going offroad, you can never keeps stuff from hitting the truck.
As for the LEDs, the 3 cell OnX bar is an all spot bar already, but it still doesn´t shine very far compared to the hella HIDs. So I won´t get around using at least two of the round lights for distance. The LEDs are great for close to mid range lighting, but long range stuff is left for HIDs.
When the suspension is all done, it´ll have 16" of front travel and 18-20" of rear wheel travel, that leads to pretty high speed capability, therefore I need lights that shine far enough to react at these speeds.
The mag hytec diff cover is another compromize. Sure a thick steel one would be a lot safer and better for hard core offroading, but when you tow and haul with it, take it on long trips and do some high speed stuff, I want the gears to stay cool, therefore the finned cover with extra fluid is great.
I might add some kind of skit plate below the cover, if I feel it might get damaged. But before all of that, the tank needs to be finnished and a skidplate for that needs to be build.
I honestly think I want too much from one single truck...
Honestly, there are just too many options for me to vote at this point. Do what you think is going net you the best results for the how you intend to use the truck.
That is how I feel now, I keep coming up with more ideas all the time. I will limit it to what I either have laying around or where I just have to buy minimal extra parts. I don´t want to spend another load of money just to change it all over. I´ll see what I can come up with at the end....
