'78 K20 - RootBreaker from 1990 - nov 2025 8.1L not runnin

Maybe that guy wouldn't have had so many misfires if the gap wasn't so big?

Yeah, my old set of coils looks about like that. Don't understand why the thin laminate cores aren't better protected. I'd like to see some numbers on how much the inductance changes from corrosion damage like that.

I originally bought and used a different style adapter that you had to screw together. could not get return line tight enough and i believe that is where fuel came from for my fire...
ordered 3/8 and 5/16 of these... never used them. think this will be a better choice? press on and clicks.. not sure how removes....

not sure if you saw my other thread but I lost interest for a while cuz fuy in that purple ford passed away. killed in a motorcycle accident...

Now that that is said..lets get moving.

I punched adapter out of firewall for gas tank wiring. having issues getting new to me one in.. so i decided to try from under the hood. after several attempts..I lost it. Couldnt find for an hour.

whelp i sat there thinking..
If I was a rubber plug and i fell off of a truck on 9in lift on 40s... on a sloped driveway...how far would I go???

Threw harness under hood.

i got a lot done today but she will not be running. I am ready to start but fuel line is leaking like a siv. i found it was leaking 1.5ft from connection. thought maybe a hole in rubber but it is new. so i removed it, cut it... put back on and still leaking. going to pull bed back and replace entire feed line. not today.

gonna go to a fab shop and custom this biach. beer time.

I see i didnt update here. went to fab shop and bought a new line..10ft $75... they only had 1 so i did the main. turns out return line is bad too so hoping to go back today to get another.

not much to talk.. i put fuel line in.. turned key... return line spittin... truck off.. come back.

3 weeks later, return line replaced turn key and 58psi, no leaks.. turn key and no cranky...

jumped 2 wires under hood and cranks...
shut truck off, walked away...

some time later.. walked out, tried troubleshooting and spaghetti mess git me mad.

so interesting news..long ass post i posted on fb.. most of you have been up on it but a good recap... then my dilemma.....

Iong story... move on if you like youtube shorts...

I understand small accomplishments... a setback in an accomplishment hurts but overcome it... sometimes ready to throw in the towel... been wrenching on my truck since 1989... did cam swap in snow...that was fun at 16 huh dad Dennis aka big d...then when i was 18 and dad was under truck with cig in mouth, ashes falling on his face, turning a wrench saying...I WILL NEVER WORK ON THIS TRUCK AGAIN IF YOU MUD IT!!!! after it was fixed, back in the mud... blew engine.. so much history..
now I am older and few years back I started a major upgrade... 8.1L computer controlled and drive by wire from a 2002 silverado... went great for a while.... then a fire broke out and it sat.... I went to work on it and my friend helped me get it back in the driveway. I tell him I am gonna work on it and he says he is going to work on his ford then can help... i get a txt and am like... oooh how far did he get... what i receive is.. hey Jeff it is Denise, John was killed in a motorcycle accident last night...
WTF!!!!
put me 6 months of even looking at my truck... over next 1.5y, do this do that....
now i am at it. all wiring removed and cleaned up and hooked up... go to turn key and fuel pouring out... replace steel braded fuel feed a week later....turn key...return leaking.. jesus!!!!... replaced it a month later... turn key no leaks and 55psi!!!! woooot... turn key and nothing... uhhhh i got power, fuel, elec pump with key. jump 2 wires under hood and cranks.. so not under hood wiring.... stumped....
Tear all wiring out of in cab and clean it up.. did a half ass new harness swap decases ago... cleaned up and done right....

So now all that was a few years... leads to tonight....

Talk to neighbor and he comes over to man a fire extinguisher...
I didnt expect truck to start. After few blunders of this wire not hooked, then that wire not connected... turned key and.. BIG BLOCK POWER UNLEASHED!!!

Short lived... the kick in the balls. Next neighbor drives by and stops... I crank it for him to hear the song and it just cranks... now no spark... ughhhhhh...

Well getting back to the point... you get kicked while being down and when you start to get back up, you will keep getting kicked... Guess what... Not backing down!
