78 K5 Linked/42s Family Crawler

Poor man budget build trying to make a dependable and capable trail rig for the family to enjoy.
Tell me about the e-brake assembly please. Brand?

Its just a cheap one off of eBay. Like 35 bucks I think. We'll see how long it lasts. Has kinda oddball fittings. One is 7/16-20 inverted flare and other is 3/8-24 bubble flare. I had to do some "customizing" to the 7/16-20 fitting I got from summit to make it seal. Hopefully it works, brakes still need bled, but pedal does pump up well and pulling the e brake is stiff.

So the handle assembly should work as a locking parking brake? Not just a momentary cutting brake?

Yea there is a little catch latch on the side to keep the lever held back to use as parking brake. Simple and cheap design, not sure how well it will work yet. Figure ill use it some for front dig too.

Eventually I'd like to make it a standalone system to a brake fabbed onto the np205... Someday. Because right now if I brake a rear line then I have no e brake either.

Got a few more things done over the weekend. Got cut short Saturday night cause welder ran out of wire. Propane tanks are tacked into place. Steering reservoir mounted and hoses came in the mail. Its coming together. All the little things add up fast. About to place yet another order to summit racing lol.

Test in back yard went well. Suspension seems solid steering works as it should and brakes have no problem holding it in double low. Very happy with it! I even let my woman drive it lol. Have video but file too large to post on here. Completely different animal from my 80hp 5speed geo tracker lol.

Got the passenger seat tacked in tonight. Trying to go to off road park this weekend for test run. Not sure if I have enough time to button things up... Front floor, harnesses, wire electric fan the "right" way and air my shocks up a little more along with just checking things over.

Front floor is done good enough to get it into the woods. Eventually it'll have full floors, trans tunnel and all. Got lap belts mounted too, waiting on getting rear seat in to put crossbar in for shoulder harness.

Also got the shocks set close to ride height and axles squared up under it. 123" wheelbase and 25" belly. Tires still need aired down some too.

Can I ask what U joint you used for that steering shaft? I bought the wrong xj shaft and that looks like a quick fix.
