I think it all depends how you plan to use it. I’m building a 73’ jimmy and 74’ blazer. I considered a half cab but to me it’s no different than a truck, Just my opinion. and I already have two square trucks so I definitely wanted a totally different feel. One important note, I plan on using these as summertime grocery getters and eventually passed down to my sons. So I completely understand the guys pushing the newer half cabs
As someone who owns a full convertible Blazer, a half top Blazer, a Suburban, a regular cab pickup, and a crew cab pickup, there is no comparison between a regular cab pickup and a half top Blazer.

I want it kind of like that. I will likely have the soft top rolled up like a safari top a lot of times. I just don't want a roof over my head when I want it down, and I don't want a B pillar there even with the cloth top over my head. The cage bar will be plenty. With you using your "half doors" I am surprised you don't want a full vert with safari top, because with the half doors you really lose the only advantage to the half top, which is a better window seal, right? Or did I miss something?
The metal roof would obviously be a lot stronger for safety, but with a cage I don't need it for that.

Yes, I want the full vert. I like the open feeling at the dunes, even if I may have cloth over my head for shade many times.
I guess after thinking about it, I want to build my own version of @jekquistk5 s Ice Cream project...
I'll use my 489 big block/TH400/NP205 in it, my 37" radials on my truck now, and my front radius arm suspension I built on the truck 12 years ago, with the Dana 60, finally 4 link the back, and put a soft top on it with a cage under it and full vert doors. If I paint it I'd paint it Dark Cherry, same maroon color as my Regal.

I have more questions to throw out there for you blazer owners.
What is the measurement from the front of the inner wheel tubs to the area that drops down for leg room? And how long is the seat front to back on the bottom bench area? (Not width, length)
I am just brainstorming, but I have previously thought about stretching a blazer to a K10 shortbed wheelbase. I even went as far a few years ago to see if I could get a soft top made 11" longer.
It would give me a longer wheelbase for the dunes and dirt drags.
I also wonder, how much would be needed to put a full width bench in the back right in front of the tubs? 11? enough? 14" enough?
Is this a good idea? Bad idea? How much room is really in the narrow back seat? 3 kids only? 2 kids and 1 adult? 2 adults and 1 kid?
This would be a lot of work to do right and stretch it in front of the wheel tubs but keep the lower leg room area in tact. Not sure it is worth the trouble even with the advantages of interior space and longer wheel base.
I literally just thought of the full width back seat thing. That never crossed my mind before, previously I was only concerned about the longer wheelbase for dunes and racing. Wheelbase would end up the same as my shortbed K10, or slightly longer, but not near a long bed.
I probably won't do this, as it would be a huge amount of work and I'd have to cut up a tub and my box pretty severely. So the cost would go up to since I wouldn't be able to sell my truck as a driver or roller, or even my truck box. So not only is it a lot more work, but significantly more expensive too.

I even made these 4 years ago, not sure where I got the pictures from...but I stretched a blazer...I think I couldn't find a good side picture before of a full vert, and I didn't want to try stretching an angled pic. Might not be to scale I was just trying to get an idea what it would look like. I would not use a hard top.
I can answer one question really quick.
I put a full width bench in a 73 blazer, I just cut down the wheel well to clear.
Depending on your lift and the size of your tires the tires will never reach that high to touch the inner fender up top.
I could go measure the truck on that one, I'll keep about the same 6" lift, but if the axle went up as far as possible if I link the rear, how much clearance would there be left.
BTW, since I did that 4 years ago, you on the phone, and now my father, have both suggested it recently. Stretch the blazer. It was my fathers idea for me back then when I was thinking about it then. My how time flies.
I'm just doubting it's worth all the hassle and cost....

He will still have the issue with the top.
But it would be easier to put together faster
It's a good idea, it would save money, I forgot Kert did that mod with everything else he did to that truck.
However, as much time as I would have into it would bother me the floor was still the truck floor with the fuel tank clearance and no leg room after all that work.
And that is why if I ever do it I would stretch a k5
What would you call it, a K7 Blazer? A K5 blazer and K10 truck integrated as one....
