79 Blazer with a few modifications
I pity the deer who steps in front of that.
We have deer here in town that just meander across the street and cars and trucks stop for them. Jokes on them cause I don’t stop and I’ve had the pleasure of making an example of one in front of their herd with my Urban Assult Suburban. Fun fact there is no law in town against running over a deer in the street on “ accident “.

Some fastener clearance for the frame. That pitman arm is from an M715 Military Jeep truck. It’s close to the length I need so I’m using it for mock-up. I’m going to make a twisted double shear custom arm. Thinking I’m going to ditch the shock towers because of having to customize them for the steering shaft. I’ll just build them into the tubing frame for the front. Still going to do a 2 piece steering shaft with a pillow block or heim to support it so it can clear the shock.

Curious how you make this as strong as a solid cast pitman arm.

The top and bottom pieces are 1/4” and I will put some plating on the sides and also a middle support in between the plates. And I do play some guitar
 
Pitman is wrapped up and draglink cut to length it’s 40.5” center to center. Great clearance between the spring and arm so far. I’m sure that I will lose another inch of that when everything goes into the chassis. The engine mount plates are on the frame.

Turning the ordinary bumper into an off road bumper. Cutout the backside and went crazy with the holesaw. The clevises will have the mounting side plates welded to them and then inserted through and welded. The end of the frame will have plates for the bolts that go through the face of the bumper and there are crush sleeves installed. I’m thinking 10 bolts in 3 different planes on the frame to hold it on.

It might just be the pics, but it looks like you welded steel to aluminum. If so. How’d you go about doing that on your double shear crossover/high steer arms?

Aren’t you worried the 14b will smash into the fuel or its skid plate?

Not worried about shackle angles being too steep?
 
This is a badass build! Awesome ideas and fabrication skills. Gonna borrow some ideas for my rig.
I appreciate the accolade. I’m on a mission to build myself what I think is the best vehicle I’m able to. The techniques and ideas I’m using are ones that I have applied to builds in my shop and the successes and failures lighting the way. I’m not declaring that the way the suspension is setup is the correct way, it’s just the way I do it. Consult your local suspension specialist if DrSmash is right choice for you.

#1 The highsteer arms are billet steel and the fabrication is all steel.
#2 At full bump I expect the 14b to be a 1/2” away from the skid. If the frame flexes at the bumpstops I think it will hit. But I feel that in an extreme situation that would drive it past full bump it would have to travel 2” past to rupture the fuel cell. So yes it can hit it , you know chicks dig scars.
#3 Nope , per my calculations they are just right.
 
Awesome, thanks for answering my questions. I figured the high steer arms were made out of steel. But for some reason the billet WFO arms looked like aluminum. Amazing fab work
