'79 K10 Step Side Rusty Rex

79K10 Stepside
A little double posting. But I wanted to update in here as well. I ordered an nv4500 for this truck today. I went with the 99-07 style truck unit. Will need a bell housing and probably the Mal Wood pedal and the correct clutch disc to go on my Mcleod flywheel.

I understand I'm not getting the early first gear. but with the magnum I won't notice it.

That didn’t take long!
You put those new prp parts in yet?

I do know that the truck will hold an OD ratio out on the road. When I'm at 65 at 3000 rpm I barely have to tough the throttle pedal. I see 70 MPH as reality now, faster will be possibly but man that seems rippin' on 40's. But again probably OK.

Seat mocked and tacked. It feels comfortable, and I can get my dome 2” lower from the cage which is so much nicer. I can swing my head all over and if wearing the harness correctly I have decent clearance.

My fab skills aren’t superb, but I’m making it a strong as I can and will use corner gussets and am using a snap on 220v welder. IMG_1594.jpeg

I think it is looking good so far, going to look real good when you are done

I need to remind myself not to hurry too much. And if I need to order something I will. I need to sneak a tube across behind for the harnesses at the right height. It won’t pass racing inspection. But I’ll do my best for a safe trail setup.

I’m hoping for a center console possibly. Maybe put the speakers there. Also have an ignition switch to add in the console maybe. And a kill switch. So no key needed to start it. IMG_1596.jpeg IMG_1595.jpeg

Seats look good in there

What we’re you’re shoulder harnesses attached too with the bench? Asking because I want to do my cage similar to yours….

Tabs were on plates and were welded to the cab. I’m gonna use a tube this time.

My cage is a kit from summit racing. I believe s&w racing for a 73-87 c10. It is 1-5/8” tubing. I have nothing in my dash and probably won’t pull it unless i removed the cage. My heater is a Mojave unit and just sits under the glove box.

It’s hard to find any info on these cages. But I just wanted something and wasn’t ready to buy a bender yet. I was happy for the price. Mine attaches to the slider tubes and frame.

Are those the ones they use for the flag mounts for oversize stuff? If so they are some good magnets.
I can’t remember I think so. They work great for temporary. Solid.

The stereo is loud. Ha. Four 6x9” on a 1200w amp. And four 6.5” all kicker brand. Cheap Amazon pioneer deck. The amp is from orielly’s IMG_1625.jpegIMG_1624.jpeg
