'79 K5 Build for the PNW...(Pic Heavy)

The door thing gets a lot of attention... Everyone loves the step pockets... Makes it real easy getting in and out... Been thinking about using some old tow straps and making grab handles for the inside of the cage...

You coulnd't get in and out of Horton without some sort of opening for the door:D

I just want to tie in the whole chevy look somewhat and the doors would do that nicely. Although I would probably do less than you just something to tie in the front and back

Your rig looks all business man. I'm diggin' it.

Eric,
I have some scrap doors I could give you for that. They are no good for doors but I am sure they could be perfect for skins like that.

I love this pic:

Can't wait to get some pics like that in the woods...:D

I walked around pull-a-part for a while... Found some Pathy bumps...

Was thinking threw how I was going to mount them, then it clicked... Use the stock "L" bracket off of a Chevy frame that's behind the rear shackle mount... Any one that's done a shackle flip on a Chevy knows what bracket I'm talking about...

Here's the bracket...

Welded a bolt in the the hole for a stud...

They will bolt to the frame using the top holes...

After I see if they work, They will get mounted permanant... If they don't work, then back to the drawing board...

Well, I was all loaded up Friday and on my way... Then, the Ford started cutting out again... I rebuilt the carb on it earlier in the week thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't... Ended up riding along with some buddies... Had a great time, but would have been better if the Blazer was there... Oh well, heading up this Saturday... Need the weather to dry up so I can get back on the bus and not rely on the Ford to get me to the trails...

Here's a pic of it when I finally got it back to the house on Friday...

Here's what I did with the bump stops... When on level ground the bumps rest on the spring plates in the rear...

Here's the front... I used a chunk of 2"x3" 1/4 wall tube and drilled some hole in it to use the stock bumps...

0404111336.jpg

I still have 4" of drop left in the front before the shocks get to full ext...

And more than I'll ever use in the rear...

I'll see how it works and adjust accordingly...

that sucka barely fits on the trailer.haha.how far does it hang over on the sides?i like the bumpstop idea.i still need to extend mine and redo the mounting since i inboarded my shocksand used the mount holes from the bumpstop for my crossmember.

any wheeling pics ?

I took it out the weekend before last, but I don't think anyone had a camera... One rig broke a front spring, another twisted the rear d-line in half along with shooting some teeth off the d60 spiders threw the diff cover and bending a rear spring and I broke the side mount I built for the 205...

I need to move my orbital valve so the tire doesn't get into it and clearance a few other things... Trying to get it out next weekend for a work party and see how everything works... So far I've been pretty happy with everything, just some bugs to work out here and there...

Took the Blazer to Elbe Hills for the 3rd Annual Elbe Hills Fun Run... Hit the Busywild on Saturday and broke the ears off the inner and outer shafts on the passenger side of the D60... Also broke off the spring pin on that side...

Was a great weekend... My oldest son got to drive part of the trail and a buddy let him run hie 1st gen Yoda all day Sunday...

Here's some pics...

Holy crap, I'm assuming your right front tire disappeared behind the hard section near those tree roots? Looks like it would be easy to get stuck in some of those places!

looks like a sweet trail.i dont know how you broke that 60 on that truck swallowing hole you got into.haha:eek1:.im sure your boy was lovin being behind the wheel.

Yeah, that hole made my 44" TSL disapear... There's other holes within 100' of that spot that I wont go in...

This trail is known for destroying rigs and the owners having to walk out... Most people wont even go in... It's claimed hundreds of victims...

I made it out under my own power, but came across a jeep that was sitting in the middle of the trail with a broken frame... There was nobody in it or anywhere around... Had to push and winch it out of the way... Found out that it had been in there for a week and the owner had came back every day trying to get it out... A couple of my buddies pulled it out for him...
