79 K5 H-Bomb build

I'm also interested in the hydramat. The fuel cell i bought used a couple years ago came with foam already in it but the whole thing was never used. I have read that the foam eventually breaks down and can clog fuel lines creating a major pain in the ass. I want to keep the foam for anti-sloshing purposes and this hydramat would work perfectly underneath the foam as a prefilter and also provide further improved fuel delivery. Only problem is i have a rear sump aluminum fuel cell with male AN fittings and I'm not sure how i can connect to the hydramat without having to make a new penetration with a different fitting.

The foam in my fuel cell broke down almost immediately, clogged my pump/lines/injectors within hours of putting fuel in it. The company that sold it to me told me it was because of the ethanol in the fuel I used, which was normal 87 at the pump. I argued on the phone for hours with them. I got no where.

AND another question to throw at you guys...

I'm debating scabbing a plate behind the shock mounts on the frame... I keep going back and forth on whether that is necessary. If I was doing coilovers I would do it for sure... just not sure how much pressure the shock mounts will see. Whatcha think?

a thread discussing the ferd towers https://ck5.com/forums/threads/ford-towers.313713/

Interesting... mine sit quite a bit lower (partially due to how I mounted the lower mounts) and I decided to run inside the steering shaft.

I'll probably stare at it for a few hours tonight and decide what to do. :)

Any progress lately?

Lol... kinda. I put the leaf springs back together and tacked up the Ferd towers and then a set back happened. I didnt take pictures because I was so mad.

The ferd towers have a pretty narrow space near the top at the mounting hole. My fox shocks are not narrow at the top. I didnt notice all of this when I was mocking things up because I just used a small diameter bolt to secure the shock into the tower. This allowed the shock more movement and drop lower than with a full size bolt. When I attempted to bolt everything back together... the shocks bound up pretty bad in the towers.... glad I only tacked them in.

Chassis Unlimited had a father's day deal going on so I decided to buy these:

Yes, I could just bend some tube and make my own but these looked interesting.

Picking up my big block today...I'm hoping that gets me motivated to get back in the shop.
