79 K5 H-Bomb build

Not much room up there. Probably need to build some kind of platform.

I really like the platform I built a while ago...I obviously made it to suit me with height and stuff. It's just bolted to the floor but is very sturdy (kids use it to stand on to get in and out of the back seat). Was pretty simple, nothing fancy really

Started getting the fuel stuff together and figured out I had an issue with the holley hydra mat and fitting it to the internal pump. Anyone run into this?

Probably just need to figure out the right adapters but I'm hoping that I have enough room to fit all in there (height).

Baffled tank? If so I don't think that hydra mat will fit right in the baffle. Poke your head in tank and you'll see what I mean. Also, I think you need to shorten the pump assembly to make room for the extra height of that hydra mat....

No baffles in the tank. I measured out the length and I'm about 1/4" - 1/2" too long as it sits right now so should be able to make it work if the adapters don't lengthen it out too much. Just got to figure out the adapters.

do they not have a bigger square one? I guess if you keep the fuel level up you should be fine regardless.

F*ing brake lines.... I even soaked the fittings for a couple days and used a flare nut wrench and still managed to round the last one. Anyone know if anyone sells the front half of the rear hard brake line (pre-bent)? I've found whole sets but I dont really need all of them and dont really want to bend up and flare my own (I will if I have to though).

Had the same problem w/ my brake line... Tried cutting it as long as I could, and reflared.. leaks..

Yeah, that’s what I wanted to avoid. I’m decent a doing flares but doing that while it is on the truck is another story.

So the hydramat that Holley said would work does not.... guess I’ll just have to keep the tank full.

The derale fan however fits the radiator perfect. Very happy with it.

I like the new gauges too

Good lord... this fuel system wants me to fight it the whole way... the pigtails don’t match. Is there any reason I can’t clip the wires, solder, and use shrink tube? 7BEA21D9-0709-4360-8BEE-D98DFAEE2183.jpeg

And the pump doesn’t fit the hanger well either but I can make that work. 58EEFDA7-7DA4-4DE2-AD21-990CE916E874.jpeg

Can't help you there, the Delco 381 is a direct fit.

I have that pump too.... but that pump does not work with the hydramat. I also have the external pump and kit that the sniper master kit sells with. I’m pretty frustrated at this point...

If the new tank I bought had baffles, I would just say screw it and run the stock pump and sock but of course I managed to get the unbaffled version.
