8.1 - Allison Green Monster Build

Your build is looking good.

I have a friend who is going to be selling his 4 door Lincoln convertible (i think it's a 64). It is getting a new paint job at the moment.

Ok, headers arrived yesterday. So, hopefully I'll get the test fit done this weekend with the headers, transfercase, rear x-member and the frame clearanced for the a/c compressor.
Looks like the compressor would mount up, but I wouldn't be able to connect the lines .
I'll post more pics next week.

Cool, I was wondering when you were going to start a build thread. So being from Fresno are you a Pismo guy or do you head to the hills and play in the rocks? :)

Can you move the cross member above the frame lip and shorten the cross member support on the right to compensate? You will raise your tranny and gain some ground clearance.

Well. if he is going to stick with the NV263:rolleyes: I think he can use a 2wd crossmember with a shorter poly mount.

Until I get the transfer case mounted, the headers installed and check the front drive shaft clearance(this will be for reference only since I don't have the D60 or a CV driveshaft yet), nothing is set in stone. My plan is to weld a piece of 2x1 .250 wall tubing to the top of the crossmember for added strength and tranny height.
I'll be doing some of this stuff tomorrow. Pics will follow.

I'll tell you when I get this beast rollin, lol! I've been primarily a hotrod, classic car, motorcycle person. This is my first truck build.

Cool thing is, this is giving me some great ideas for my Lincoln when I get the Blazer finished. And no, I'm not making my Lincoln a lifted 4X4 :haha:

Going to be watching this one! Had 2001 hd with an 8.1, great low end power,it sure would run but it spend to much time at the fuel station. So I traded it for a Durmax.

He hasnt been on since late august, I would love to see how this is coming along.

I need to find a truck with that color combo too, I love that green and white.

Wow. How did I miss this thread?

Awesome swap.
