8 Low

So I am working on this truck, in a shed, with 3 walls boxing it in. Sometimes work gets done to the accessible side, then later, when I can pull it out & turn it around, work gets done to the other side.... So anyway. The shock tower that I put a fair amount of work into that is on the passenger side will not even come close to working on the drivers side. The Superduty towers are now scrap & im putting in an order to RuffStuff for 4 shock hoops. My tower was right where the steering shaft lives on the drivers side. Also I am ditching the 3rd row seat. I want my shocks to live in that realistate.

When I pulled it out of the shed I locked it down in low/low. I have not set my proportioning valve on my brakes yet..... At idle in drive with the brake on it sat there doing a slow burnout.

Here is what I came up with for tubes to mount my rear shock hoops. I'll add a couple of gussets to the rear one. Obviously weld the front one solid. When the hoop is added my shock will sit in the middle of its stroke. If it flexes at all I'll add a cross bar. The shock is fully extended in this picture.

Man that is ugly under there! I'm loosing the hard tranny lines. Wanted to see how the aftermarket cooler worked before getting completely rid of them. I have a Flowmaster Y & a heated O2 ready to install. Looks like the shaft may clear the exaust at full droop so I might wait to cut the exaust up. Plenty of other "have to"'s on the list before I get into another want to. I'm looking forward to winter again when I can pull all this back apart & detail it a bit.

Got a little welding done. With the portion of my crossbars outside the frame being so short, & the bars running all the way across the rig,,, these things seem to be hella strong. I'm not getting them to even think about moving while jumping up & down on them. I'll give them a good thrashing once I get shocks mounted & if they don't flex, I won't install a crossover on the top of the hoop.

That hoop is kinda cantilevered off the frame a bit by those standoffs. Are you going to either gusset or run a support up to the top?
