I was all fired up last night to build my front shock hoops. Cut some parts. Tacked up my first peice & started to weld then....... out of welding wire!!! Choice words were spoken. I have put a few miles on the Burb around the section I live on. This thing feels like it is going to ride & handle like a champ! it really feels frogy. Cut into a fuel line with a cutoff wheel, fixed that leak, new master cylinder is leaking between the master & booster, rigged a ugly vacuumed line between the intake & tranny, shifts good now. It's coming along.
I think I'm going to run my hoop tall enough so that the top of my shock mounts in the crotch of my shock hoop. That way the shock does not have any more leverage on the hoop than nessasary. Also the shock will be tucked up tight to the steering shaft. A crossover is going to be nessasary up front.
Alright, welded, bolted & ready to rock! I about really Fd up. I completed the drivers side thinking there is no way anything could interfere with the passenger fit. I had already put the Super duty tower over there with no prob. I have to turn my dang truck around to work from one side to the other. So I tear the snot out of my yard turning my truck around. (We have had a good 3" of rain in the last few days)... start to fit my hoop cut the inner fenderwell & then look up to see the air conditioner box!!! Right in the dadblamed way! FML! Anyway, it was not as bad as I thought. A little heat & bend & massaging of the plastic box & I was good. I tel you what. When they put a charge in these Bilstine's they don't mess around! I feel like I armwrestled these shocks for the last hour! Can't wait for a test drive with 4 shocks!
Yeah those shocks suck to install by yourself at 160lbs.
Got F3's up front and put mine in stock location to drive while doing some vertical mounts like you and few others have done.
Ya know, that sounds like a great idea today. Last night at 3 or 4, whatever it was, doing it the hard way sounded better. Ratchet straps from now on. The Burb looks like I put more lift on it now!
