(80 K25) "Nigel" 3/4Ton of Fun

I work in Roy
Nice, good to "know" someone local. Iv been in this house for almost a year. so still new to the area.

That helps a lot, thanks. After looking at that I went back out and looked at the truck. There is a ton more flat space than I saw when I looked quickly last night. About 7" from the rear of the bumper mount to the start of the curve. Plenty of room.

Replaced the old tail light lenses.

and this new engine cant show up soon enough. The more I drive this thing the more it leaks. When I first fired it, the valve covers leaked but nothing else. I replaced those gaskets and soon after front and rear mains went. Now I put about a quart in a week. Its becoming a hazard to park in the driveway. I may start using the side yard.

By the way. Who do I have to bug around here to get my free sticker with my membership? It says I can request one but doesn't say where or how. I want my sticker dammit!

Driving the truck today I was WOT in third gear trying to go 40 up this long hill. Get to the top and hit a red light. Never before in my life have I seen a truck go from 210* to 190* sitting stationary in 90* degree heat. I guess the cooling system isn't as bad as I thought.

Brown Santa was good to me today. I got the first package of my big order from summit. Inside was all the components of my fuel system, pilot bearing, clutch/flywheel bolts, trans mounts, and rear locker. My Ruffstuff 14b cover and pinion guard showed up as well. So looks like the locker will be going in this weekend along with the fuel system. I am still waiting on my gauges, headers, and radiator/fans to arrive. I hope the radiator isn't smashed. I also need to order the vintage air kit still. Rockauto says my clutch and flywheel should be here next week.

Not surprisingly I got a call from 4WP today about my winch. It wont be here Friday like I was told. Now it comes Tuesday. Not a big deal since I can still cut out the mount and have other stuff to be productive but still. I don't think I have ever done business with them and had them not let me down. Every single time its something. Every time I go back I keep telling myself not to... but I get a damn good discount.

Now I need to figure out how I want to do the exhaust and intake. Then order all the crap. Intake I was thinking just a 90 off the throttle body and running a cone filter next to the core support for fresh air. Exhaust, 2.5" off the headers into a Y with a vband behind it, then single 3" down the driver side and out behind the rear tire. That's the dream anyway, who knows how it will actually package. This will be my second full exhaust. The first on my Willys was a packaging nightmare since the starter, motor mount, driveshaft and oil pan all live in the same area.

You going to Blazer Bash ?
Unfortunately no. I thought about trying to make it out after talking about it with @muddysub. I just don't trust the engine for that long on the highway. All of the rubber is failing. Im starting to get smoke on startup, I'm guessing its the valve seals going. I'm actually rushing to get the build done(functional) by the end of September. October 1st I'm meeting up with the Novak guys to do their War hero trail run that will take me down to Trail hero for the rest of the week. I was supposed to have my Willys done for that but.. you know. Time makes fools of us all

Three of us are meeting at my house Tuesday then going down on Wednesday morning. If you want to come over and say Hi.

Yeah, Im down to stop by and meet some people. Shoot me a pm with your info

Today wasnt super productive, but I did things and stuff. I pulled the bed again using my super safe setup. Cut the exhaust off since it was in the tank space. Then got the tank in and eyeballed the other brackets. Tomorrow Ill drill some holes and stuff some bolts in them. Ill probably add some meat to the top flat of the rear corssmember so it grips the tank better.

Actually going to pull the fill neck to the side of the bed like a factory fill?

Nice to see you on here man! It'll be easy to stay up to date on your truck this way.

Haven't decided final product yet. I'm still undecided on bobbing the bed and I would hate to put it somewhere Id have to cut it out again. The plan as of now is to do something like this, only executed a little better. Preferably in a location that wont get loaded with a ton of crap so I can get gas without having to move stuff.

Thanks. This place is a lot more welcoming and active than the shit hole that is pirate. Now you can see my Instagram, build thread, and all the pics I send in the group chat. You wont miss a thing

I got the tank in its home today. I also put togther my sending unit and dropped that in the tank. Then I prepped and got 2 coats of POR15 on the rear axle. I think I found a good spot to mount the filter. Tomorrow Ill mount it and make my pressure and return lines. After that its locker install time in the rear axle.

Bad ass, sounds like you and I have similar though processes.. subbed
I'm just trying to hit all the important things. I want it to be reliable and quality. I don't want to have to think twice about driving it on a long trip.

Pirate isn't very good for information anymore Mostly guys on tons and 44"s or rock crawler buddy's jerking off over pics of portal axles.
Pretty much, if its not a TTC build it doesn't belong there. The Willys section is still pretty good. they have always not followed the Pirate "search or **** you" mentality. Then again, the Willys section is very niche. This place has already provide me with more info than I have gotten from pirate over the years I've been there. Its way more welcoming too.
