Can you close the hood? Just want to see it
Actually, no I can't.
I need to do a bit of clearancing but that isn't my hood. It was the closest one to grab but it belongs to one of my guys. We just set it on there temporarily. I need to get it off of there and get a different one out to fit up and do my cutting.
Kind of thought that might be the case. Oh well if you dig it that's what really counts.
Still not sure if I dig it but the bumper improved the look a thousand percent. It makes it more attractive to me knowing it's a form following function item.
I like these suggestions. Imo, the headlamp area is too empty, use bigger lights (both headlamps and turn signals) with some bezels for definition. Too much unused space around the lights but the grilled area looks good.
Got some side bracing I want to do yet but debating location/angle etc. At some point I'm going to need some more clearance for the front tires at full lock full stuff and the side braces will make that a bit more complicated so those will be on hold till we get the inner fender and core support clearanced a bit.
Probably pull the bumper off today and get it welded up for the most part.
While that's off I can get the receiver tube set up in the front cross member for the remote mount winch.
Got a Ramsey 8k winch i'll build a cradle for and use that for my winch for now.

I spent 3 hours or so this morning working with the body alignment. Measuring everything I can measure.
Cab to frame, fenders to frame, used a straight edge from the doors on the body line extending out to the front of the fenders and those are off by 1/16" so, I'm thinking the body is mounted as straight as I can get it.
No matter what I do the hood is way out of whack. Needs to come forward on the drivers side front and back on the passenger side front but at the same time, the front of the hood needs to go toward the drivers side.
I think i'll pull the hood off and the cowl piece and see if the hinges themselves can be adjusted. I don't think I've ever had a hood fit this poorly. I could cheat it by shoving the front clip over toward the passenger side but then my bumper won't look centered.
Bumper is all welded up with the exception of the tube caps out on the ends and whatever I decide to do with some side bracing.
Only thing really left to be done in the front for fabrication is get the receiver tube welded in and get the air intake done. Plenty of wiring to be done up as well as other things like that.
I think its about time to get a replacement box side and start getting the box mounted to the cab.

Did you check to see if the hood is square?
Nope, its a factory hood from the 80's as far as I can tell.
Nope, I have not checked that. Never run into this much issue with alignment. Never occurred to me the hood may not be square.
They are famous for kinking when the hinges aren't lubed properly. Maybe one side is more bent than the other, like the PO closed the hood from one side instead of the center?

Got it figured out today. The front edge of the hood, the part that is nearly vertical was grossly out of shape. Drivers side bent in toward the engine bay. Passenger side pushed out. Thats what was making it look so crooked. Got that straightened out and a little more tweaking and I'mm call it acceptable.

Nope, still weird.
I wish you would have tried to minick some sort of factory grill.
But bonus points for going so far out of the box that if you tried to make it look factory and f'ed it all up you wouldn't get hung out to dry.
