80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

any idler/tensioner going between that and the drive pulley for it...at least these engines are low rpm...just wondering about throwing the belt with such a distance between the alt and its drive???

We'll try it as is. Fingers crossed. If it needs an idler, probably screwed.

Isn't that just for a welder setup??? If so, maybe just run it when you need too?

Might be nice to be able to throw the switch on the second alternator for extended winching duties. Between the two, I should be able to generate somewhere around 360 amps.

Possibly Sunday I can start in on intercooler mounting and AC condenser mounting. I think i'm gona need a new radiator. Mine is just plain to damn big. Kinda sucks, I wanted to reuse the fan and shroud setup that I had already built.

Guess i'll be shopping for a rad that fits between the in and out ports on the intercooler. Shouldn't be to hard to come up with something there. I don't think these diesels need much for a radiator compared to the gassers i'm use to dealing with.

Don't want to use a water to air intercooler like I did? The heat exchanger and radiator for the intercooler are much smaller and more flexible to package than air to air components are.

That's one component I have some room for so in the interest of keeping the mission critical systems simple, I think I'll stick with air to air.

Didn't get a whole lot done today.

Got the notching on the rad core support notched for the steering box and started figuring out the intercooler.

Intercooler damn near mounted today but then we get this nice little blizzard.

Pics tomorrow.

Anybody have any of those rubber isolators that go underneath the AC condenser?

I've got my stock ones, but will need them, you need to make something from an original?

Nah, just looking for the originals to go in this build for my AC condenser. Probably thrown away 30 of them over the years. Back when I was young enough to say, "meh, who needs AC."

I may have a set of the isolators

Let me know!! I needs em.

I probably have some, but I'd have to dig through the snow. What year radiator support?
