Very nice. That is going to be stupid loud! I know because I ran my dodge with no muffler/tailpipe and it was extremely loud. It actually lost a little in the bottom end, but was very happy up top rpm wise. I'm running a dynomax muffler on both trucks now. Its a straight thru style and is pretty small. Its about 6" diameter and around 16" or so long. Truck is still pretty loud but it helped mellow out the raspyness of it. Just a thought.


It'll certainly get peoples attention when you go to pass, that's for sure!

Ok, I'll see if I can explain how it felt different. My truck weights just over 8,000lbs, so she needs all the help off the line she can get. I only drove it like that for a couple days, but it seemed like it wanted to be higher in the powerband before shifting. It wasn't a major difference but it was noticeable. A few hundred rpm change isn't much in a gasser but for a diesel its huge. Currently the truck has a 4" downpipe with 5" the rest of the way, exiting in the stock location.

True, no backpressure on a turbo motor isn't a bad thing. But exhaust size and length can have an affect on how the engine preformans.

Just my 2 cents.

I hope its not to loud. Seems just about all the diesel builds I see, there isn't a muffler in any of them. A lot of the diesels I see around here don't have a muffler either and they aren't to bad. For now it'll stay as a straight pipe. We'll see how it goes.

Yea adding a muffler later on wouldn't be hard to do. Having the tip extend past the body of the truck helps too.

I'll try to grab some better pics of the exhaust. I need to figure out some lighting. Always so dark under the trucks.



On the exhaust, I don't much like the band clamps in a vertical position so I added some springs to hold the pipe up. These in conjunction with the band clamp and it should stay sealed together pretty well. There is another hanger but more supporting the rear half of the pipe.

Tomorrow the throttle cable will be done. Did some mods to the cummins bracketry and it worked out pretty slick.

Next thing to finish up is the power steering circuits. Once that's done, we can start it up.

if it were as simple as buying a different clamp i'd do it. Don't have the equipment to make the "bumps" for the "v" to grab nor the material so we'll rock with this till I have evidence that it won't work.

Besides, I like the idea i've put $50 bucks into a complete exhaust system.

If it was really a worry you could always sink a stainless self tapping screw in through the band. It does keep them from sliding apart. I did that on my 2500HD to keep the pipes lined up where I wanted them.

Throttle bracket modified to work with the Chevy throttle cable. Don't know if this is a standard thing but Cummins or Dodge or somebody had their thinkin' cap on when this was designed. Works out really slick.

Cable goes to the first linkage and then there is another rod that goes from that to the VE pump. I had to move the mounting for the cable back about 1 1/8" but that still left a little pull on the throttle. From there its a simple adjustment on the linkage to the VE pump.

Whipped up these little gadgets today. They are to facilitate mounting of the steel lines on the frame without having to drill into the frame itself.

Did you guy`s use a muffler on Stompers Rig? It sounds Sweet! And you should hound him to drive it more and take more video!

How long are those front shackles...any concern of the front end being wishie washy like that?
