80's short box, "S.E.R.E." Box permanently attached to the cab.

I think its about an inch from the spring plate. I'll take a closer look at bump stop possibilities and go from there.

After looking at it again today, I can save some room on the tower mount and pull the cylinder more toward the drivers side. I think that'd give me all the room I need for bump stop mounting over top the spring plate, which is where I'd like it to be.

As far as clearance between the cylinder rod/end and the spring plate itself, even if the tie rod tips in its boots, i'll still have plenty of clearance.

I don't know if you remember, but I had you make a custom ram tower for me a while back for this very same reason of pulling the ram as close to the driver's side spring plate as possible. You probably still have a cad file somewhere if you want to modify it for your needs. Jesse Williamson is the account it would be tied to.

Got the last thing done on the On board welder as well. Bushing welded to the backside so it will drop down on the hood pin and not get yanked off the core support when in use.

That's pretty much exactly what I intend on doing. I believe I do still have the cad file.

Well, I'm gona have to go backwards for just a moment. Gona pull the axle and front springs back out and address an issue that has been bothering me for a while. This will have some effect on steering clearance so, better late than never I guess.

It's a couple things actually. The center pin for some reason won't drop fully into the perch. For mock up it didn't really matter and I had figured I'd correct it when we disassembled things for paint. There's another 1/8" of clearance on the tie rod there.

Never was happy with the bushings that came with the springs so I'm gona punch them out and put my own in.

While I have it out, i'll go ahead and finish up the welding on the shock mounts. I' d hate for them to get knocked off accidentally.

There are a few other small things I can finish up while its out.

Worst case scenario, its a couple hour set back. Not really holding me up at all, I have quite a few things I can work on in the mean time. Waiting for cavity seals for the weather packs now. Once those come in, I can get some more wiring done in the cab. Started figuring up some of my cutting brake solenoid mounting yesterday which gets me going toward the rear with things.

Just about time to order up some seats.

Did you find a wiper motor plug?

No, haven't found one yet. Got another pile of wire to go through at the shop.

Got the axle out tonight and got the debris out of the cast spring perch that was preventing the center pin from dropping in all the way. Shock tabs welded up full and rolled the dice and welded on the hydro assist tower mount. Feel pretty confident of the placement on that end so not to worried about it. Welded the axle tubes to the center section while I was there too.

Got the springs pulled out. Tomorrow i'll get the bushings swapped out of the springs and have that issue put to bed.

Got a vacuum pump and rear bumper to install tomorrow and that's after we talk the 6.2 in my kids truck to start up. Got the charger on it overnight. Hopefully that will get the job done.

I didn't modify the design in any way shape or form. Cut it out and its gona work out much better.

You know there's these things called glow plugs that when working make it way easier to start:rotfl:

Gear reduction starter and bigger wire. 2 glow plugs working and mine started good at anything above 15.

The bigger battery cables were a huge improvement. I thought you already did that though

Nah, really haven't done much of anything to this truck in the way of maintenance. The electrical needs some work to be sure. Right now I'm at the point where I'm not gona do it myself. If my son wants to do it, i'll help and guide where I can but I'm not gona take on another project.
