MTBLAZER89 submitted a new Build:

82 K30 3+3 "Krusty" gets a new cab!

So I picked up another crew cab this week. Well I didn't but my buddy picked it up for me. I am still on deployment. Saw the CL add and just couldn't pass it up.

1982 K30 crew. 350/TH400/205 Dana 60 and 14 bolt.

Paint is rough, but body is straight except the tailgate and some surface rust. Lower trim level.

I have no idea what to do with this truck. I bought it because it was cheap so I figured I would make a poll and see.

1. Crew Cab short box, motor swap and just be a nice truck to drive.
2. Make it a wheeler. Sell the engine/trans/case and axles to fund a new build. Boatsides, full cage, maybe a cab exo, tube bed and eventually swap the Blazer drivetrain into it.
3. Lift it clean it up and sell it for a profit.
4. Part it out.

I know it's not really in your option list but this was one of my ideas for a crew cab.

Get a solid body and a 1/2 ton frame. Build it into a crew cab shortbed with rally wheels and prolly like 33" bfg's. Put a 5.3L and a 6 speed auto and have a pretty cool DD or family hauler. That could potentially get decent MPG's.

Plus you could sell the axles and drivetrain and prolly buy a modern drive train for it with the money from the old lol

Well I have been home for about a month now and finally went and took a look at this thing.

Drivetrain is correct. 350/400/205 Dana 60 and 14 bolt. Good tires on 16" chrome bullet holes.

I would consider the cab a total loss as far as rust is concerned. Door jambs, cab corners, upper seams, and rockers are pretty bad. Bed has a few small minor holes, front fenders are the same. Minor holes in the normal spots. All the doors but one are rusting on the seams and the bottom edge.

Interior is eh. Door panels are badly weathered. Basic Sierra package. Zero options, but the dash pad is NOT cracked. It is pretty faded though.

The grille has one broken square, and the front bumper is 99% perfect.

I bought a 1990 K5 last night so I am pretty sure this whole project is going to get axed. Part the truck, keep what I may need, and scrap the rest. :hack::hack::grind::grind::weld:
