83 ground up blazer build

Looks great. I really like the crossmember. Where did you get the bushings you used on the crossmember?

The bushings are from ORD. They are poly and are .90 cents a piece .

I probably won't make to frostbite this year. Fuel pump is out the blazer and I have been spending all of my time and money in the garage on the new one.

That's too bad about frostbite, I'd love to get a closer look at your rig. You need to get the other blazer going so you can go out wheeling, get some extra motivation for the new one. You're close enough to me that I'll let you know whenever I go wheeling, to see if you wanna meet up.

Hell ya more rigs going wheeling is great. A good buddy of mine is going to buy my current blazer. He is my wheeling buddy/spotter usually. I don't need 2 and could really use the extra cash on the new one. But he said that he is down to go this spring, I will just have to spot this time.:haha:

83 Ground up Blazer Build: Sliders

Started working on the sliders today. The tubing is 2"x4"x3/16". I decided to put a bevel on the slider so it would line up with my body line a little better. Started of by cutting the corner out of one of the sliders. Then figured I should brace it on the inside since I was in there already. Then welded 2"x3/6" strap over the opening. I think it turned out pretty sweet.

Very nice, I really like the taper to match the body! Can't wait to see them installed.

Thanks. It was a lot of work to bevel those but I like it.:wink1:

Worked on the body today cut out the dash and part of the floor.

Tacked up one of the sliders, seemed to line up nice.

This things coming together nicely...Great timing on the doubler crossmember setup. I'm getting close to that myself....

Thank you.

I was happy with how the crossmember turned out, and am working on a skidplate for the bottom of it.

Got the bender mounted up today and bent a couple of bends to get the bend tech software calibrated and get some practice. The bar that comes with this thing is a joke. Bending 2" brings the suck.:doah::haha:

Going to pick up a piece of pipe for new handle tomorrow.

Nice. Guess I can just go up the road if i need some tube bent. :D
Come on up. Only have a 2" die right now but want to add a 1 1/2 soon.

Got the body mounted to the frame and the floor cut out in the front. Looks like I have a lot of little stuff to tackle now like frame bracing and body patching.. But hope to start bending tube soon.

On a side note a buddy of mine might have a 74 blazer bought for scrap. If so he said he would sell me the top, the doors and the front window frame..:D
So this thing might be toppless..

So I started bending the main tube today, everthing was going smooth (I thought) finished the main hoop pulled it out of the bender and ah **** it was screwed up. It ended up looking like a spiral.

Apparently I had the rotation wrong in bend tech. It was set on reset rotation and I was using absolute rotation. So yea it sucked.

At least it is early in the cage so I should be able to use that piece up some where.

So after figuring out what went wrong and redoing it I was 10 hours in on the main hoop alone. Sure as hell hope the rest of the cage doesn't go this way.

looks good... it's amazing how long 1 tube can take sometimes... you wheren't kidding about hacking out alotta floor... :eek1:

Build is coming along strong. What are your plans for recovering the floor pan?

Thanks guys. I am pretty happy with the progress so far but, I have had a lot of time off lately because I due concrete work and the winter has been s***.

We are back to work finally.:D So progress may slow a little but still plan on pounding out hours in the evening.

On the floor plans I am not 100% yet. I am going to wait until the cage is done and possibly piece it in... Well who knows I keep changing my mind on that.:haha:
