83 ground up blazer build

At the rate I am going it will take about 4 years to finish.

That's not near soon enough. Lets go ahead and shoot for this coming summer.

KS rocks is the closest park to me so it will prob be the first trip out. Would also like to go to little sahara.:woot:

Where I would really like to go that is somewhat close is SMORR. I've nothing but great things about that place.

So yea... any updates???

Not a big update, I got distracted a little after buying the crew cab. A lot of the build funds will be going to getting the crew cab road worthy, as right now it is not. And while it will be a few years before the blazer is done, I should have the crew ready to wheel by mid summer.

Back to the blazer... I have been working on the sill plate where it meets the floor, establishing the new floor height. This is the result still needs finished but this is the idea.

Made the rear seat brackets today. I started with 2x2x 1/8in angle iron and cut them down.
IMG_1972.JPG
Then welded the two together
IMG_1973.JPG
Ground the welds down smooth
IMG_1975.JPG
Added some speed holes
IMG_1976.JPG
And bolted to the seat for test fit

Thanks man, I hope that acid wash trick works good cause all that grinding sucks..
Pulled the rear wheel wells out, gonna do custom ones that are a little bigger. Took out the factory crossmember and installed the rear seat plate. It is 3/16 plate steel with 1 1/2 x 1/8 square tubing at both ends of the plate. The seat brackets I just finished will weld to the plate like in the pic.

we think alike:waytogo: that is nearly identical to the wheel opening tubes i've been planning. mine will have a flare built in though..... unless i find a burb. then the k5's gettin truggied:D

Well you can go ahead and consider that design stolen. Looking good, keep it up!!!

Thanks guys. Those bars took all day.:doah: There are 5 different bends with 5 different rotations to keep them close to the body. As far as using the design thats awesome. I have stolen or borrowed a lot of design elements of my truck from various builds.:waytogo:

Here are a couple pics of the rear bumper tied to the cage and fender bar. I orderer some clevis mounts for the bumper from Kert at DIY4X, should get those next week then I can put the sheeting on and finish the bumper.

Working on the fender wells now so I threw a tire under it to get some perspective.
