'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

Just a small update. Finally getting some other projects out of the way so I can get working on the blazer. I know BB16 will be here before I know it. Added some longer front bumpstops.
KIMG0332.jpg they are rear ones off a Ford f550. About 2" longer than the factory ones and I just had to drill a new hole for the peg that keeps them from spinning when the nut us tightened.

Got the center section for the front bumper mostly done. Need to mock it in place to the brackets and make some templates to get the angle right for the wings.

Is that an effing "I" beam?!
LOL hey it was free, Yes both front and rear bumpers will be made out of 6"x12lb "I" beam. It's 6" tall and 4" wide and roughly 1/4" thick. I cut the speed holes to drop some weight. That chunk is for the center of the front bumper. It's 30 1/2" wide and weighs 25 lbs. I will update with more pics on how I'm gonna do the wings when I get a chance. The rear one will most likely just be a straight chunk with speed holes and some dovetail work I think.

Yeah it was between that and some 3"x5" rectangular tube with a 3/16" wall so I went with the heavier stuff. Should turn out good I think and it's lighter than I thought when I weighed it. I will hopefully remember to weigh them complete when done before I bolt them to the truck.

Test fit.
Do I need to bring it closer to the body? It has about 2" between the back of bumper and sheet metal and I could shorten the mounting brackets easily at this point. It sticks out 6" from the center of the lower sheet metal piece.

I know I'm a little late to this party, but did you test getting the caliper pins out w/ the new lower shock mounts? Looked kinda close.

Yeah it looks like I will have to either pull the lower shock eye out of the mount and fit a socket in that way or worst case I can pull all four bolts for my caliper bracket to axle flange and spin the whole thing to give me some room. It was really close but I did plan ahead on it a little. LOL
