I would also say you should pull the bumper in closer. Maybe just 1/2" from the sheet metal.

Yeah I think I have 2" of clearance and it sits below the sheet metal also so I will shorten my mounting brackets 1 1/2" and see how that looks.
I cut the brackets down 1 1/2" now I just need to mock it up again and start on the wings. Today hopefully!

Teaser bumper pics. Probably all I'll get done til Mon. Then finish the speed holes and tack it together for test fit. Slow process doing my fab at work then take home for test fit then back to work to continue. If I have time I'll just haul the blazer to work and get it done.
Mocked up the bumper this weekend. Need to trim the side wings at an angle on the top and bottom flanges and cap the ends. I think I'll also add a grille guard to it at this time. It would be easy to sandwich some uprights between the wings and center section.
I wasn't sure how I'd like the I-beam bumper at first. but it's starting to take shape and look good now!
Thanks. I'm not really into just throwing stuff on without first making it at least look somewhat good. These bumpers will end up being somewhat temporary. Gotta have them to get it registered but eventually I want tube bumpers and a 52" spring swap and a winch so I might go with a DIY4X A-bomb or something.
That thing is gonna ruin someones life if you ever rear end them.

Bumper matches the truck perfectly. I like how the I beam (H beam?) kind of resembles the center bar in the factory grill too

Yeah I would have got more time but they left a day later than planned and I have to go out of town and work Fri night and most of the day sat.Nice!
So 6 hrs later and no time for a dinner break. My buddy and me got the front bumper done and on and the exhaust fabbed and full welded except the tail pipe turn out. Oh and I also got a good start on the rear I beam bumper to match the front. No time for pictures and too dark so I will get some in the a.m.
