'83 K5 6.2L Diesel 64" rear springs. 3/4 ton axles. rear discs. Boring but works!

not that limited I pulled those up in a minute search so there are options for 10 bolt guys.

I can't afford a used D60 then to rebuild and gears for it.

I can afford to do gears myself at work in my 10 bolt , U joints, ball joints where all replaced little over year and half ago with spicer parts. I don't mind open front diff for now. Not like I live near Moab or any where super cool to go off roading.

Hey I moved to Idaho!

Yep, don't expect the 44 to be any stronger than the 10b. In fact, the stock axle shafts on the 44 are actually smaller in diameter than the 10b stock axle shafts. But like bent72 said, the mods from the aftermarket are endless for the 44. Not so much for the 10b (just try to look for a diff cover and you'll see what I mean).

And going off memory when I ran 10b axles, the 44 and the 10 shared all the same parts from the knuckles out ( in GM vehicles ). I robed a 8 lug 44 once to 8 lug my 10 bolt because I need 4.10 gears. The 44 was 3.73.
Thanks for all the info. I prob won't worry about upgrading to something bigger until after i break my little axle a few times at least. No sense wasting money. I think I might just save money and do the knuckle swap on my 10 bolt and the front suspension then add crossover and maybe slowly build the 44 for a spare front end. Plenty of things to do and spend money on for now.

Why do I feel like I just got told off because I'm running a 60? :dunno:

At no point did I knock, or will I ever knock, the capabilities of the 10b or the D44. Many guys, such as Wade, Luke, bent72, ashman, Phil, and many others showed in Moab the those axles are all you need to get the job done. But my rig came stock with neither.

Sorry Luke for the hijack. :thumb:

Don't get butt hurt now, it's just the internet

:haha:

All I was saying is what alot of people say don't go over board or buy stuff you don't need at this time.

Trust me I want a D60 but can't afford it and would be over kill for my truck at this point!

I will run my 10 till breaks couple times and then upgrade. Then finding one that is not $$$ as heck will be a chore.

I like your truck alot and would not think of putting a 10 bolt under that style ever!

Your big pig and driving style definitely needs a 60 lol. If one drops in my lap for a sweet price I'll definitely go that route.

Don't worry @4door99 , I witnessed your style save you when it tried to stand on the nose!!
But of course, the humpty-humpty POW was memorable too....

LOL! Yep! That happened. And i know we all could have done without the POW.

No traction bar yet. But it will happen. plenty of spare driveline parts will be brought, including complete spare rear and front driveshafts.

Good idea. I have a ton of stuff to do before Blazer Bash. Kinda waiting to get into our new house, we close on next fri. I will have a nice surprise! I need to register, work on blazer, get lodging setup, and maybe get spare parts now since I have to travel to Moab.

Where did you buy I might be down tonight
I was working and saw your message just now. Southwest of Rigby but we don't close til the 31st. I should get you my number for when you come over this way or if I come over your way. We went to Jackson a few weeks ago and came back through Alpine.
