83' K5 The Norwegian Crawler

This is sad... My whole workshop is in water, and the garage for my rig is flooded. The flood came so fast, that I could not save all my tools either.... Welders, powertools and other tools for at least 15000 dollars are gone.
My house is also started to crack in the basement because movement in the ground.

Some of my cars are under water too....

Luckely, the Blazer was in the workshop so it got water just up to the rims and are just fine! :)

This is the power of the nature, nothing to do about it. So to cheer the mood up, my and my buddies got a great idea. We could play around with a wakeboard! We didnt have any boat, so we obviosly needed the Blazer :D
It got so big, that the bigest newspaper made a cover of it! Here is the link: https://www.dagbladet.no/video/playlist/PLxz-E8oobCImwskV0a6ZuA6el_lUO_SNf

An another newspaper also made a cover: https://www.vgtv.no/video/158253/bilene-stoppet-da-de-saa-dette

Needed a good wash, both inside and outside after this. I did a lot of filming of mudding around the town, I could post it if it is any interest.

The oil in the rear differential was good after all of this, but up in the front it was really really bad!

Time for the fun part, new inner differential seals. The only part the gets untouched is the pinion. All other parts have to be removed for this project.

Sorry about everything Dan.

But if you have videos, thats always fun

Thank you for the suport! I am going to change all the sealings for the front axle. But it is the pinion seal that is the main problem actually.

The insurance company have been here to look at all the damage now, hope we could sort this out somehow.

Meanwhile, 17. Mai is the national day in Norway. I finally got all my flares on, and some flags! I know it looks silly with the big flares and the small wheels, bigger wheels is the next thing to buy! 20180517_191717.jpg

Here are some more pictures of the flares. Really good quality fiberglass with almoust perfect fitment. Had to cut both bumper, and some of the flares. Not sure how they actually do this on Iceland, but it turned out good this way too. It shoud be enough room to fit 44" tires, but not sure I want tires that big. Thinking about 40x16" or someting, but dont know what size wheels I should go for. 16x14 wheels was my plan, but considering 17" instead. Not much tires to choose from in 16" 20180519_135021.jpg 20180519_135014.jpg 20180519_135009.jpg 20180519_134931.jpg 20180519_134926.jpg

I went to a 17” rim last year for the same reason.

Flares look good

Any news about the insurance?

I am still arguing with the insurance company, they will not pay out for even the half of my stuff. So I had to use from my savings to fix everything for now. Hope I will get most of it back soon. So my plans for the truck is still on hold...

But I did go to some meetings this summer, and got a friend to take some good pics!

I also installed my snorkel and sun visor.

the mounting studs on the snorkel was not perfect, so had to make some ugly holes to make it work. But it turned out just fine.

Had to do a notch in the fender profil to get the flare lay flat. Used butyl mass on the holes to prevent rust and vibrations. 20180902_213808.jpg 20180903_205007.jpg

Also used butyl mass to seal it, and also marine silicon inside. Secured it all with skrews to make sure it doesn't get pulled apart because of the body roll
