I found all kinds of settings on the tuning side but it's all very foreign to me. I'll probably call Howell in the morning and see if they have any ideas. Maybe I can get them to send me another known good PCM to try.

I think you have the wrong tune/pcm boss.

I noticed that, not sure if the hardware is compatible?
Hardware may be, but I don’t think the time would be showing 6.0 unless they’re doctoring that up quite a bit. Not sure on that. I would definitely hit them up and ask

You have to click on the channels box on the upper left to add channels on that left list

From what I understand, they start with a 6.0 tune.

Keep in mind to run the cable throttle the base tube for these comes from an early 6.0 with cable throttle. Every thing is scaled up for the 8.1 for base fuel and timing tables. There was never a 8.1 from Gm with a mechanical throttle body so there is no base tube to go to when the L29 tb is installed they have to go with the 6.0 setup. And since the 8.1 is identical in the ecm/ controls as a LS the dbc conversion works fine.

I guess they could have done something different in the tune for the slush box but since it’s TH400 the ecm don’t have any trans inputs/outputs to worry about so it’s treated like a manual setup anyway. But I’m betting it’s the same tune as mine. As such, it makes me not doubt the tune. The idea of a leaky intake gasket still nags at my brain. It may just be internal in the valley instead of external where the carb cleaner would have found it.

They all share the same ecm it’s the programming inside that counts. It is not 8.1 specific just like the technology running it.

Look at the sticker on the ecm should end in a 0411?

correct, it's an 0411

Waiting for Howell, they don't provide tech support until 11am EST.......

Howell wants me to double check the knock retard isn't coming into play. I added the channel to the VCM Scanner so I'm going to run home and take it for a spin. If that checks out, I'm going to try another PCM in effort to rule out a hardware issue.

as a very new user to hp tuners myself, are you using a laptop to do the actual data logging, or just MPVI3 interface ? If just the interface how does it work ?

you need the laptop to record it in vcm scanner. You can also blue tooth your phone to it but I don’t think you can record, I have only used it for codes.

I'm using a laptop plugged into the MPVI3 using the supplied usb cable.

If you get the Pro version, you can set the dongle to do the logging without a laptop present. You use the laptop to configure it, first.
