On the block portion I also find its a big help to let the rtv tack up first to where you can touch it without getting it to stick to you, basically the inside is still soft at that point. I also shoot some rtv into the bolt holes that go through the head, the ones that aren't blind.
 
I think I'll run the right stuff on the top of the block without the gaskets. I have blue rtv here but these intake gaskets have a raised rib around the ports. Still use rtv?

Cool, thanks guys. I'm torquing the heads down now, then the manifold so I can shoot some paint on it.
 
The manifold isn't lining up right, really weird.

Makes sense that would cause this.

However makes me wonder if the compression is higher than I thought previously. Oh well, back to the machine shop on Tuesday.
