Does the electric oil pressure gage work good in that spot?

Honestly I have no idea why it's in that location, makes sense that it would normally be located near the filter. Clears the headers easily where it is now.

For sure. I remember when I did mine I forgot to hook up the oil line "mine is mechanical " before the headers went on.
It was kind of a PITA to get at.

Mine was in the oil port in the back of the block just behind the distributor. I threw it in the garbage because dummy lights are a bad idea lol.

Called the machine shop about the manifold debacle......machinist says "let me guess, it's an edelbrock?" :doah:Apparently he see's this often with the 454 and 455 olds using edelbrock manifolds.

So I get the machine shop at lunch and he notices a crack in the manifold in the exhaust port that runs across it. So that's junk....what a waste of time that was.

Probably just going to order a Weiand 8122WND and be done with it.

Should be able to repair the intake, not?

If you are going to scrap it, send it my way.

Martin

Installed the harmonic balancer with a 9/16 threaded rod I bought from McMaster-carr along with the water pump and pulleys. The Weiand manifold with a fresh gasket set will be here tomorrow.

Like the look. Suck about the intake

Might be for the best, sounds like that manifold sucks anyway.

Good game, both teams are bringing the heat. Looking forward to games at the shark tank.
Hoping for better luck, 2x OT losses show how close, but still not enough

How/what is better on the weiand?

Penguins are playing tough, they're defense is the differenence so far.

Everything I've read says the Weiand manifold is better performing with the peanut port heads. Then the guys at the machine shop backed that statement up and went on to say they've had a lot of problems with the eddies not fitting on 454 & 455's along with cracking. Mine didnt fit and was cracked. I have a hard time spending 300+ on another edelbrock that may not fit....the Wieand was 230 shipped. Hopefully it fits :D

Received the new manifold so I did a quick dry fit......

Fits like a glove. I don't see the provision for the hot air choke so I'll need to add an electric choke until I go EFI.

Looks awesome.

I used stainless 3/8-16 1 inch long socket heads to mount the manifold. They used AN washers on it before which I could only find at osh but they were worth finding since I lost them and the mani holes were a bit on the big side for a Allen to seal up.

I bought a set of stainless bolts (hex head) and washers (AN) from summit already. Need to pickup some longer socket head 1/4-20's for the valve covers tomorrow so I can button this bitch up.
