Don't worry, my whole truck is a weak spot compared to yours @skunked .

I was watching extreme 4x4 the other day and he's boxing the frame in that apocalypse suburban build and I don't think he's boxing his any further than you did. Actually don't think he even went that far.

I'm sure it will be fine either way but it's a lot easier to add a little metal now.

I ended up cutting a couple templates at lunch, I'll trace those over to steel and burn them in tonight. I noticed a few other things that need finish welding and then it's time to shoot some paint on the frame.

the fuel tank is galvanized IIRC, wonder if I need to paint it? I didn't paint the other one and it hasn't rusted over the past 2-3 years :dunno:

Rock Rings came in today

boxed up those front areas a little better. Turns out that welding with a left hand is kinda like throwing with a left hand :rotfl:

Need to burn in the passenger bump bracket and then I think I'm ready to prep and paint the frame. Tomorrow I'll swing by ruffstuff for some more gussets, tabs I need to finish off the skid plates. Also need to pick up some 1.75" shock tabs for the front hoops.

When boxing a frame do you box in the ends of the boxed portion to keep mud and debris out?

Both the front and rear are pretty much sealed at the ends, small gaps around the 2x4 crossmembers anyway. I was thinking it's going to be funny when I submerge the rails in a river and they piss out water for 10 minutes after through all the holes :D

and I don't do mud

So once this is back together, let's trade trucks. I can work the bugs out of this one while you frame off mine

Send me a stack of square tube with the truck.

Maybe it's my old racing 250r days coming back up, but I loved the white on the frame.

It was actually a light gray primer. I totally get what your saying with the old bikes though :waytogo:

What size?

Have a 4" square by 6' chunk for when I kill the front bumper

No pipe rack but I need one of those now that you mention it. Your truck need new frame rails from square tube.
