Only other I have is the hinged tail light idea. My wife thinks that's a bad idea tho because we have crunched the tail lights several times over the years.
I thought about it but I came to the same conclusion. On a street truck I would do it.....
My Dad's friend is an investor/owner in a company that makes these heavy duty bed mats. This thing is heavy, took everything I had to bear hug it and get it up into the truck bed. Fits pretty good though.
Those rubber bed mats are awesome, I can't wait to get a good box for my 78 so I can get one. I would now but it'd fall through the floor

They're pretty nice when you have a bed full of totes, cooler and miscellaneous camping gear. Keeps everything from sliding around.
Then what do you do with your bungee cords?
Those keep the lids on the totes.
At some point I need to do something. Bed needs to be media blasted before I do that though.
Do you think it could be ran between the bed side and to a door?
Yes it looks like you can pretty easily with some sheetmetal trimming

Fuel tank skid plate ?
It's sitting in the garage painted and ready for a piece of plate to be bolted on. Need to buy and install all of the skid steel actually.
Hey how far back in the thread was your gas tank install? I did some mild searching but I don't feel like going thru 125 pages.
