I still can't believe how much you accomplished in a fairly short amount of time! How did the fitec work on the trail???

Post Trip Report

We left around 6am on Wednesday before the bash with the intention of traveling 514 miles to West Wendover Nevada which is located on the Nevada/Utah border. We made it past Elko somewhere and blew a tire, and I mean it fk'n exploded.

So we swapped the spare on we went another hour or so and blew another. Took the spare off the other trailer, threw it on and we had an hour drive to West Wendover. Ended up limping into town around 4pm, got a couple rooms at the Montego Bay Resort overlooking the rigs.

Meanwhile I was trying to contact every tire shop in the area to find some rubber and spoke with Keith @kgblazerfive about tire options in SLC. The next morning we grabbed some early breakfast and ended up going to couple tire shops, one guy had two tires at $200 each, another shop had used tires, the third shop (El Jefe Tires) had a set of four 10 ply trailer king tires in stock @ $400 installed. Done deal....

We were back on the road around 10-10:30am, gassed up with plenty of junk food and red bull for the run to SLC down to Moab (357 miles).

more gas and redbull in Provo

Noticed a few guy's were swapping wheels when got there. So take you bring a floor jack and cordless impact to do a swap that takes around 30-40 mins by yourself with putting small tires away?

Friday AM we met the majority of the group down at City Park, most of which were running Hells and another 14 (or so?) of us ran Steel Bender including my buddy Dave in his 72 K5 hot rod (aka The Ghost)

First section of trail was pretty calm through some trees and river, during a couple small drops I heard a banging from the ass when the suspension compressed. I thought maybe it was the gas skid catching the Allen head screws holding the diff cover. More on that later...

first obstacle was dubbed the wall IIRC, I was following the trail boss Wade at this point and this was my point of view.

Wade couldn't pull himself up without a front locker however I walked right up it locked with a little extra wheelbase.

Just curious as you and Perry did the swap I noticed. Good idea and smaller trailers then.

For the Saturday run I was signed up for Flat Iron Mesa with about 14 rigs, Dave was signed up for Chicken Corners. Our codawgs brought dirtbikes so they decided to meet us out on Flat Iron Mesa so Dave jumped in my truck and we left The Ghost at camp.
Turns out the Flat Iron Mesa was only 6 rigs (two K5's, 2 Jeeps, Tahoe and myself).

The scenery on this trail was pretty awesome

This little loose rock hill got exciting. I put the truck in double low to show my buddy how it worked, the rock was really loose, truck was sliding down (shouldn't have used double low here) and the 205 front output slipped into neutral. I quickly realized it what happened and put it back into low but it scared the shit out of my codawg hahaha. Later I remembered I have the adjustable detents pretty loose, need to put a little more pressure on those.

As for issues and or problems with the truck I have very little to report. The banging noise we heard on the first leg of Steel Bender was actually the driveshaft clearancing the exhaust pipe. The Hydro assist tie rod clamp had loosened up, noticed that after the first day on the trail. Also need to tighten up the front output detent on the 205. Other than that, the truck flat out worked, I was very happy to see it stay together and work as well as it did.

This first trip to the Bash with the crew cab my exact same tie rod clamp slid. I ended up drilling and tapping a set screw into the middle to help hold it. Haven't had an issue since.

I was thinking about laying a bead on either end of the tie rod but I may use your set screw idea.

I'm too afraid I'm going to need to adjust it in the future to make it too permanent. I used a big set screw so I could get some good torque on it. I'm always worried I would round out the inside of the bolts that came with it.
