Gauges, probably a flat spot to put stuff, a storage compartment. Hehe
On the passenger side where I sleeved it? Yes and I was fighting the notches a bit so it was easier to cut and rotate it. It will be hidden under the dash.
Stock dash will go back in.

I agree. I like tube dashes but, for me, there's a really fine line between a great looking custom dash and unimaginative flat sheet metal. I want a custom dash for my Blazer but just don't have the budget to take it to someone for something creative. I even bought a used Diy4x dash but now that I have it, it just doesn't "do it" for me. I'll likely be staying with a stock dash as well.
Eventually I may do something different with the dash however my approach with this truck has always been to keep it as much as a squarebody as I can.
