84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Mine won't switch all the way. Pumps come on though. Any of you electro-nerd-magician types have ideas, let me know

Might need some pictures. A 1984 truck shouldn't have fuel pumps that come on. It should have one mechanical pump mounted to the passenger side of the block at the front (like a carb rig) that sucks fuel through the transfer switch. Only one pump, and it comes on when the engine spins. If you have something else, somebody has modded it (and my information becomes less relevant). The gauge wiring should be running through the transfer switch, and that should make noise when it switches. And there shouldn't be any half-way position, it should slide back and forth from one tank position to the

Just keep asking and answering questions, we can definitely figure this out.

Looks like summit is slow agian... water pump won't be in till Tuesday by end of day... I knew we should have went threw jegs....

Eh.. At this point it doesn't matter were good ya know. I spent the good part of the afternoon cleaning the rest of the inside and trying to get the damn parking brake to work! Friggen thing is skipping teeth. I tried stiffer springs and kind of got it working, I'll prob make some jamming mechanism or use a pair of vise grips till I can replace that.. Oh and another fun note. The front output on my np208 is very loosely goosey.. Me thinks the bearing is toast.. Might have to rebuild that when I get to the clutch.

Good idea Martin.. I suppose I really only need the brake for the quick get out and in, the rest of the time I use the trans.

Totally random thought, is it even possible to bump start this truck??

Not sure about pushing it on flat ground (maybe if you had an army of people), but I have tow-started my dad's 6.5/NV4500 without difficulty. It's amazing how much easier that is than trying to push it. :D

Another random question that came to my mind about starting your truck... You suppose if you had a new starter to go along with your new batteries that you could over rev the 6.2 by simply turning the key?

Naw. Nasty uncle would probably disconnect that, too. :doah:

Better start hiring that army I mentioned to provide all the push starts you're gonna need. :deal:

Yea probally drop a valve or spin a rod or crack a main head or something like that. You know those converted gas diesels don't take the revs so well.. I'll have to go down grade my batteries and get a pair of dewalt drill packs to start it..

This thing will never get running with that attitude. :deal:

It's not my fault it won't run, the Internet told me that's a "flex fuel" engine and would run on gasoline by just replacing the glow plugs with spark plugs..

Well, I did not really expect to take apart the whole front of the engine but I guess that's how a water pump goes on one of these.. I missed that part completely, now I know!! I apologize I didn't get any in process pics, too dirty, but I used right stuff on the Front cover and the supplied gasket and right stuff on the pump. Sealed up now! Hahaha
And I found the source of my vibration!!
Crazy huh!

I got the engine bay cleaner too. That was nice to finish up.

Just ordered some injector return line to fix the leaking ones. I got the german line that doesnt require the clamps, its the same stuff accurate diesel sells just in bulk.

Like how much bulk lol.

I keep on forgetting to order that. I'm back on my motor this week
