84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
I drove it!!!!

To the driveway.. cant belibe I made it!! Time to fix some wiring..

Do you think that with the 6 inch lift is going to kill my ability to travel at highway speeds?

No! im not gonna tow with it before I regear it.. I have a set of 6 inch lift springs that I was going to use and a lead on tires. The truck needs tires, I wanna drive it already. I have the springs, so why not.. I will track down a proper 14FF/44 pair to swap in for tow time.. unless that just wont work.. I wil get a turbo before it tows as well..

Thoughts? Is this stupid?? The only other Idea I can think of is to de arch the leaf pack some..

I don't see how larger tires & lift will help you with towing duties, if that's what you're asking. If you just wanna tow, I'd leave it as it is, enjoy the cheapness of tiny tires, and just sail off into the sunset. :saweet:

If you're looking for a multi-purpose rig...well...you're the only one who can answer as to what you wanna do.

Yea I must not have mentioned the multi purpose part.. The more I drive this the more I realize the potential for a nice mild wheeler, nothing that crazy but still the occasional back country trip to big bear or snow or things of that nature. That's why I have the springs. Since I neutered the blazer to 2wd only, I wanted something that wasnt so crazy built..

So sat @secutright and me came up with a name.. its actually more of an acronym than a name..

ZFGD

Zero Focks Given Diesel

I think that suits it basically because it sat for so long, we put diesel in it, two batteries, hooked up one wire and it started up ran and gave zero Focks! so it pretty much deserves that title.. that or we can vote on it..

Ah...Neutering remorse. That makes sense.

You mean, something that can actually go where 2WD can't? Ok. This is a fine platform for that, and I think your plan will work out great if you get the gears adjusted accordingly.

6" seems excessive, but if that's what you have I would just roll with it.

I ran 35 x 12.5's on 16.5" x 6" stock steelies for years. I towed our 21 foot camper trailer with those on my Jimmy...to SoCal and back and all through the BC mountains. It was fine. I've also had 39.5x15.5 TSL's on 15 8" rims...
