Why not a 6.0 for the extra torque? Are you going to be towing with it?

Not bad, on the highway I get about 13 mpg. I would think where you are at any engine will do, but that hill coming in from the 10 extra torque would be nice. Keeping the sm465?I actually really like this truck, it drives awesome and quiet with very little rattles, there is the no smog aspect which keeps this desiresble for me to keep. If I can get 5-600$ for the entire motor trans etc fuel tanks... I think that's reasonable.
5.3 because they're cheap, I'll tow some but not a ton with it so mileage was more the though with this one.. it sees lots of miles and hopefully more in Baja..
or a 4l80e, I'm researching what it would take to make the 4l80 work on the 5.3 and if it's worth it...

Kinda late to be subscribing now...this diesel thread has gone from happiness to euphoria to boredom to discontentment to disillusionment and now to the dumpster heap (at least for the diesel aspect). All in a fairly short amount of time.
And now we're getting back to the euphoria phase again. It sure is interesting to watch.
