84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Well I got sidelined... damnit maybe they will overnight me the condensor like I asked in email.. praying for that.. it’ll be 107 a few days this week and I really am not looking forward to melting my ass off on the way home..

Nice carnage. My 12b did that but without the hoonage.

Let's face it, that poor thing was on borrowed time with your right foot getting after it.

It is not like I drove it like a race car!!

Ok maybe I did a little.. not my fault it sounds like a Camaro.. if you close your eyes when your wide open in 3rd if feels just like a Camaro buuut you closed your eyes like an idiot wide open in 3rd.. wait what? Lol

I figured i didn’t want to melt any further so I moved back to the Ac stuff.. damn near done minus the fan switch wiring into the trinary pressure switch.
So the second benefit of this is it is forcing me to tape up my harness and get some loom for it. Also moving the battery may be required.. or the air cleaner.. I wanna use the oem box which I still have really bad because the open element gets dirty quick.. really bad when it’s talcum powder dust.

Yeah I've worked on a bunch of off-highway oilfield trucks and stuff and oem filter housings always seem to work better than open as long as you swap them out regularly.

I have a k&n filter in it but I am not convinced it filters well enough, I clean and oil mine at every oil change mainly because that’s a holdover from dirt bikes.. but I consistently notice the oil coming out pretty dirty, now that is a visual identifier which may hold zero fact so once I get this back together I’ll prob do an oil analysis just to see if there is a marked difference in the paper oem filter and the oiled k&n.. I know there is “airflow” improvement but I am more about the longevity than the perfromance..

Yeah they will definitely let more air through but also more dirt. Especially that fine powder crap. Just hang one of these off your fender and all your problems will be solved. Or one on each side for that super trucker look.

Ump’a flow like shit for high demanding motors, but near stock/light modified they’re wonderful.

The ford diesel air filters do a great job to. I
Made a air box for a TT 446cu ls sandrail after his umps were robbing to much, i used the ford diesel filters, giant blue things
