84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
And technically you don't need the 24x for the 0411. Just for CNP ignition. The 4x signal is already there should a single coil make you happy.
Or skip alll the Bs with the 24x controller and use a standalone.. with cnp and the tpi stuff.. there is plenty of proof a smog era sbc will take just as much boost as the LS Will, turboforums is full of that stuff because it’s so dang cheap..

Glad you came to your senses and are being true to yourself instead of messing around with the diesel bullshit

Here’s where I eat crow.. the wife’s talked me out of it.. I’ve had a lot of time to think about it and actually parked her for a couple months.. only to be used when I needed.. them I drove her 600 miles to rage at the river with zero issues.. and it got me thinking dammit I am too far into this to give up now.. I mean @Bent77 hasnt given up.. I can’t now.. and I’m still on the same induction system!
So this year I’m either pulling the nV and swapping it, or rebuilding it undecided.. a turbski is going on, no ifs ands or butts.. mainly because riding in my buddies turbo race truck has ruined me, but the power curve is absolutely perfect for towing.. 2200-4200 and makes 550lb ft to the tire for that range... stupid right.. that’s on the corn and at 7psi. Sign me up for that!! The NV might be liveable with that kinda torque down low.
I digress.. it still needs gauges, redo the seat. Replace front axle, and probably driveshafts.. I got som vibes.. anyway for 40k miles since the swap(not joking) it’s been OK not all smooth sailing but lots of things I have learned not to do.. all in all I’m taking it for what it is..

Smart move to keep on working with your current truck. I think most of us get those type of feelings sometimes with builds where you just want to say F it and sell the dumb things and do something else. But in the end, it's always better to stay with the truck and do what you need to get it running how you want for your needs.

I know with my crew cab build, when I couldn't get my other 8.1 to run for a year and a half, I had very serious thoughts about saying screw it. But I persisted on, found another 8.1, made it work...and now my crew cab is literally my most favorite truck I have ever owned and exceeds my expectations each time I use it...and also is so much more unique than most everything else rolling down the road (and to be honest, even with all the money I've spent on the dumb thing to get it to where it is now...it's still cheaper than going and buying a 15 year old diesel truck with 300k miles on it, lol). You sometimes just have to look at trucks like that as lifetime trucks. They are projects that will always be worked on and updated and changed as the years go on.

Glad to see you are keeping it

Thanks man In the end I am in the same spot.. and to get another truck down the road may be cost prohibitive anyway.. this one even with all the expenditures is still like you said cheaper than a 300k diesel and it’ll do the job the same.. maybe not as easily but it’s not struggling either..

Ecm might be bad.. so over messing with this damn thing.. good news, driving on questionable nv4500 is still ticking and has both 4th and 5th gear.. lol

Tore the damn harness apart for the hundredth time is feels like..
again I did not find anything causing probs..
replaced all the positives and grounds with new cable.

Larry pointed out that e38/78s loose drivers and I think he’s onto something, check out this tps signal. It constantly cycles like this which based on some great electrical geeking out with some good knowledgeable buds we think is some switching circuit going back/or A-D converter breaking down causing noise internally. This is on tps/o2B-1/ and voltage. I isolated all the circuits to be sure there was no outside sources of noise. This is it..

You should LS swap it.

I’ve never heard of reverse swapping!!
Plenty of guys do it.
Lots of guys were getting vortec engines and slapping a carb on.
Some people just like to stick with what they know.
I like to learn new things. I like old cars but I don't like to get old car engines and put them in newer cars

So I tracked a buddy down who’s got a complete harness and e67 from a gmpp ls3. I’m trading him some tuning and a china chhoo choo boi turbo and that means my engine bay is gonna be purdy!! Thank god!! I am over messing with this hacked up crap.. I guess it lasted 50k miles so that’s not terrible for what it is and the absolute first try... this new ecm is faster than the e38 and can support more IO etc so for now it will run and I have room to grow if I want :) and it’s not 1k outa my pocket I don’t have..
