'84 K5 Build (Midlife Crisis)

What would you want for them shipped?
$150 shipped? I have two of these kits http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/Replacement-King-Pin-Kit-for-Dana-60/3164/3172/18772

Do you have any comment on the lube locker gaskets? I have always used right stuff and it never leaks, but it’s a bitch to clean and a damn can is nearing a hundred dollars nowadays!

I use rightstuff but I use it all over the truck so I always have a $20 tube on hand.

So for the $150 I can do both sides correct?
And I know, I know, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Lol
I have a brand new squeeze cheese in the truck and a partial in the cabinet.

Yes two kits....

You should probably break it down before buying anything. My buddy thought he needed these and ended up just needing bushings and he went springless in the process.

well this thing has 300k+ and doesn’t look like it’s ever been apart. Take my money. Lol. Do you have a paypal or how do you want to proceed? And I really appreciate it!

Inspection covers off, converter unbolted, cooler lines disconnected, linkages undone, batteries disconnected, fans out, t-case mounts undone, good amount of progress considering every five minutes I get a delay of game for DAD!, DAD, sissy’s not sharing...etc. lol.

ooo tell me more about those pieces of trim, just aluminum?

Yeah just aluminum strip. My buddy @Desert_K5
made them for me. He owns a print shop. It’s the first ones he made and wanted to see how they fit. Looks pretty nice to me. He’s working on making the pull strap next. I think he wants to make them to sell when he gets everything together. My favorite part about them is the lettering.

Gonna have to give the Harbor Freight Trans jack an “A”. Successfuly and easily dropped the combo in perfect balance.

According to this build you got an SM465/205 combo out of a Ford? I know you put some work into that, but now that you have a GM T400/205 combo at your disposal, are you going to go with that instead? What are you planning on doing with the GenV big block? That Big Block sounds like the coolant passages are clogged with crap, and that is why it was over heating.

No, I have a 465/205 out of a Chevy. I am still saving for a magnum and 32 spline short shaft kit for the 465. @Desert_K5 is going to put the 400/205 in his blazer. The GenV is going in my K10
And the stroker out of the K10 is going in my K5.
Piece of cake right? Lol.
I have done almost everything in my power to keep that pig from getting hot. It is fine for city trips, but on road trips it just keeps building heat. Plus it’s a gutless wonder. Makes great low torque to idle around all day, but sometimes I want to gtfo.

I had a 1978 single cab K30 long bed about 35-years ago that came with a 350/465/205 drive train in it. When I put that 205 in 4-LO, and the trans in "granny low", that was some serious gear reduction. I could not go more than 10-miles an hour in that mode. My old truck is going to build a couple of serious Blazers here in town.

I could get away without the magnum with my 35’s but the plan is 40’s with the 4:56 gears I have now. Should lend to low highway rpm’s and nice crawl ratios where I don’t have to be working the clutch alot.
