84 K5: The Buzzard

Been emailing Jon at JB Customs about a cable shifter to work with the clocked case. Maybe he can come up with something!

T-case clocking is winding down and today I put the MT/Rs on it, put in the rear drive shaft, filled the t-case and started it for the first time in nearly two years. Getting ready to swap the radiator as it developed a leak in the core. Thought I'd post a picture of how it sits right now.

Ordered the Hedman 69230 headers Saturday. Should be here soon. Pulled the front drive shaft out to grind out the stops in it for some more travel as well. Still having issues with the shifter. I cut the bracket back apart the other day and I've got to spend some time under it trying to get the alignment right. slow....

Worked on putting the headers on this evening. Got the passenger side on and back together and got the header on the driver's side. I've got to work up a spacer for the A/C bracket, tighten the plugs and stick the plug wires back on tomorrow. Hoping to get it done in the morning and crank it up! Then maybe finally get to grind the stops out of the CV and get that ready to put back together. I realized today that I need to do some more work to the radiator and shroud. The 80's shroud doesn't fit the 70's radiator quite right and needs a bit of trimming and I've got the rehang the power steering cooler after I get that sorted.

Got the spacer made, bracket installed and fired her up! Cleaned up my mess from yesterday and then cleaned up the CV a little and ground out the stops. Probably should have researched that a bit more but I took 1/8" off each ear of the CV "H" and knocked the blocks off the flange and drive shaft yokes. I've got to get some new joints to put it back together and hopefully it'll be ok. It's a stock CV and I have two spares if something's not right I guess. Taking a break to drink a cold one and let my mind rest a bit.

After too long without enough time to work on her, I wound up selling it in December 2017. Hopefully she'll wind up in appreciative hands.
