85 K5 Build (What to do this summer...)

Nope idleing if might get up to 150. But takes a loooong time. Factory gauge with brand new sensor reads about same in the head. Sensor for efi is in intake near t-stat. Its got a huge 4 row brand new all aluminum radiator. With 7 blade fan and hd clutch. Since I put fitech on its never gotten over 172. That's towing my 10k toy hauler singing a good tune at around 3k rpms, going up hill during hottest part of day 85* well over 7k elev. That's when I was chasing vapor lock issue though, Havnt tried it with new pump set up yet.

That just doesn't sound right. Are you sure you put a t-stat in it? Lol

where is the other gauge reading from?

Not sure if you know but there has been some issues with the coolant temp sensors being off 15-20 degrees. Most have replaced them with a Delco sensor.

other sending unit is in head in-between no 1 and 3 cyl. I'm pretty sure t-stat is in it. Lol but it is a fail safe one. Maybe it's stuck open? The heater doesn't even blow hot. Lol I'm going to check tstat too. But surprisingly I got it to run decent.

I wish I had your problem its 105* here and my truck runs a little warm especially on the trail going up some inclines.

So far so good. Looks good. I'll get some pics of it when I get home. There might be some pics in my burb build thread too.

The only thing I didn't like is the heater return hose bung has a bolt to plug it. And its only a 3/8's bolt. So it's pretty restricted.

Try a 2 psi check valve in the return line. That will help with vapor locking. Put it as near the tank as you can...after you check the t-stat first.

Got a link or pic of the check valve I should be looking for? Thx

wired the relay in and fired it up. Fuel pressure is at 38 while idling and 30 when reved up so im assuming thats the issue.
